Everyone who knows me knows how loopy brained I am…. And it was just confirmed.
So I was labeling the invitations and was almost finished, and I realized there was still half a box left. I was really confused at first, we havent taken any people off the list since I ordered them, if anything we’ve added more people, so why is there still so many left?
And then I realized… When I ordered them I was thinking of how many guests we’ll have total, not thinking about how many plus ones and people who live together.
Lmao. Tell me I’m not the only one who did this?

Ha, that sucks!! Definitely didn’t do that, though – we grouped our excel sheet by household when we did our guest list.

Hahaha, no, I didn’t do this, because I’m really cheap, lol. BUT we are having casual family receptions after our intimate wedding, and FI’s parents were originally just planning to invite family to theirs–like 50ish people. When I asked FI’s mom how many invitations she wanted me to order, she said 50. At first I thought she must have made the same mistake you did, but no, she just added like 25 family friends!! Lol.

I totally almost did that too! I was just about ready to order them when I realized it. I was so happy when I realized I would save money on invites.

I just feel so goofy! I thought it seemed like an awfully lot when I first got them in, but I didnt make the connection until tonight. XD
My Fiance said to put 2 cards in each envelope so then if they lose one they’ll have a backup.

I did that at first when deciding how many DIY invites to buy. Luckily I realized before I actually purchased them. lol Glad I’m not the only one.

@allyfally: The only reason I didn’t do it, is because I’d plugged my list into theknot and it told me how many invitations I needed. If I hadn’t, I definitely would’ve done the same thing.

@allyfally: I didn’t but only because a friend warned me about it! I did do that with stamps though when I had a brain fart. That worked out okay though because we used them for thank you notes.

I can totally see how that would happen! I didn’t do it, but our invitations were ridiculously expensive so I was definitely paying attention and calculating everything multiple times.

@allyfally: Too funny! We all have our moments. We didn’t do this. It sounds EXPENSIVE!!

@luluvohn: lol, I’m not very technology inclined, so I just made my list on a piece of paper.
@missfroggy: Thankfully we got pretty cheap ones from Vistaprint, and I also had coupons. So it wasnt that bad! I was actually bragging to people what a good deal I got. Would have been an even better deal if my brain was working!

Well at least you have tons of extas if the mail service loses a bunch!

@allyfally: I did the same exact thing with my save the dates. We orded 180 (our entire guest list) , then 2 hours later I was making dinner and it hit me…I ordered WAYYYY too many. Almost all of our guests are married/live in same household haha
Luckily I was able to contact the company (weddingpaper divas- they are awesome) and they reduced the amount by 70…therefore saving us almost $100 dollars lol
Too bad you didn’t catch it until way too late! You could have saved some $$$!

I did the same thing with my very expensive Save the Dates. And it’s very much like me to do something like this as well.
