Hey Ladies,
I am trying to figure out if I want to wear my hair up or half up/half down on my wedding day. My hair is long and wavy, and my veil is a super long Belgian lace veil that has been in my future mother-in-law’s family since the early 1930s.
At first, I thought I wanted to wear my hair up (in a low bun) so that it would be off my neck in case it is a hot day. But! At my first fitting I put my hair half-up and I really liked how it looked with my dress and the veil. So, now I am leaning toward half up/half down, but my concerns are that I will get hot and I don’t want my hair to stick to the veil.
What are your thoughts? Will my hair be so full of product that it getting tangled in the veil won’t be an issue?
If you had a cathedral-length veil, how did you wear your hair?
Thanks for your help!
P.S. Pictures are always welcome! 🙂

I love hair half up and half down, thinking of having that style myself 🙂 The heat shouldn’t be a problem as there will be less hair on your neck.

I think either would look nice! Your veil sounds beautiful! I had my hair up in a low side bun because I felt it was more elegant. Also, I had a drop veil with blusher and I think the updo was a better fit. I would consider the weather and how your hair is (mine is very fine and therefore doesn’t hold curls well). I did change my hair to half up/half down for the reception so that is something you can consider too 🙂

I think I’d want to see a picture if your dress before I give my opinion.

I had a cathedral length veil and wore my hair half up half down. I have really long hair, like halfway down my back long. It would’ve been so heavy to wear it all up all day, it would’ve driven me crazy. It was a little hot, but hot is better than a headache.
If you’re going to curl what hangs down, have your hairdresser do the curls a little tighter than you actually want them. You won’t see them much under the veil anyway, and by the time you take the veil off for cocktail hour, they’ll have fallen to a nice loose curl.

@Rubbs: My dress is Maggie Sottero’s Victoriana. Here’s a pic I found on google images:

I did mine half up/down with a cathedral veil so that is my vote! Love your dress too!
