Okay well if nothing like this is mentioned in your contract, I’d definitely talk to her about it! This seems really weird. Her Facebook page is the same, hasn’t mentioned anything about moving, prices are the same…? I’d take Speck’s advice above for sure.

janeloveskyle:  i would contact her. Speak with her again. Try to explain why you are upset and go over the contract again….. If all else fails I would be contacting the Better Business Bureau!!! Report her and also I would leave a review of the treatment you receive. I’ve been in the industry for about 17 years and that’s not cool at all!

You’ve gotten some good advice and this situation really sucks but I just want to pipe in and say BREATHE because it will be ok.  See if she will give you a free trial with the team member.  You may end up loving them even more than her.  A similar thing happened to me, the person who was supposed to do my makeup (and who gave me the trial) had to cancel so they found me someone else and gave me another trial.  This was also like a month before the wedding.  I freaked out but then ended up liking her more than the original person. Good luck!

After reading your updates, this sounds super shady to do! I would ask for a refund of your deposit and look for a new make up artist who will treat no different than anyone else. In the end you are still paying for their services I don’t see how you being a budget wedding should be treated any different!

janeloveskyle:  How ridiculous! Sorry you’re in this situation.

If I were you, I’d slow down the contact while you try and arrange a plan B. Unless you are confident in potentially doing your make-up yourself, I wouldn’t burn that bridge until absolutely necessary. I’d try and see if you can find anyone else who is available and can fit you in for a trial ASAP so that you can be sure, and keep her hanging in the meantime (if you can).

If you can’t line up someone else, I would go back to her and say that her messages threw you through a loop but now that you’ve had time to think about it, you think the best solution would be to go ahead with using her team, so long as you can have a complimentary trial to ensure the styling is what you need. That way she is spared additional expense from having to travel to perform the services herself (even though we know this issue is completely her responsibility!!) but you still receive both the styling and pre-event reassurance you had expected when booking with her.

Personally, I would feel awkward having her do the work herself now, as it’s a special and fun time before your wedding so you don’t want any tension in the room and you’re clearly (and understandably) not happy with her. Good luck!

janeloveskyle:  I mean if you can find someone else then file a dispute with paypal. They pretty much always err on the side of the buyer.
