In my opinion, makeup is very necessary. But my hairdresser told me that a hair trial isn’t totally necessary if you know what you want. However if you are not sure what you want, then it is a very good idea!

i didn’t want to run the risk of not liking how i looked on my wedding day, so i bit the bullet and did a trial.

For me, hair is necessary. This is because I’m SUPER picky about my hair. Now makeup, I’m not doing a trial. Why? Because I do my makeup daily and get compliments on it. I like to play with colors and I know what looks good on me and what doesn’t. But that’s just me. I don’t think either are SUPER necessary. But I’m def doing hair.

I think both are necessary but make-up more so than hair. I definitely had to get used to the idea of wearing more makeup for pictures. At my trial I had her tone it down and then when I looked at pictures realized it was the wrong move. My hair trial led to me changing my comb and its a good way to test out veil placement if you’re wearing one.

My wedding is 5 months away and I have already done the hair and make up trial once. I am not sure how I want my hair so I am going to try a few different hair style then chose. I plan to get my hair and make up done again in August and then October. So I am doing 3 trials but worth it.

IMO, both were necessary. The first time my makeup was done I looked like a tranny clown. It was not cute. My hair looked really good but originally I had thought I wanted something to the side and then after seeing it on myself realized I wanted something different. Its also good to see how that particular hairstyle will stay throughout the day.

I think both are necessary.  The only exception is if you can find pictures in the artist’s portfolio that look exactly like what you want, and the person in the photos looks very similar to you.  Even then, real life can look quite different, especially for makeup.

I agree with PP, I think both are necessary, but I am pretty much a control freak, and I don’t want any surprises day of.  To knock-out two birds with one stone, I am having my trials done the day I have my bridal portraits done.  So, it is not like I am going to get all dressed-up and not have anything to do!
