Hi bees! I have been seriously researching hair and makeup for me and my BMs and I think I found a winner! We were originally going to walk to a salon down the street from the hotel/venue, but after reading some terrible reviews and realizing how stressed I will probably be, I decided it might be best for the hair and makeup people to come to us. All us girls will be staying in a suite and connected room, so I thought it would be good to have the hair and makeup people come so we will not be rushed, we can relax, and enjoy some alcoholic beverages while lounging in robes or sweatpants. I found a company where the owner and head makeup artist/hair stylist will come to us with no travel fee. She will be doing my makeup and hair ($150 total, and a trial beforehand is $100 total). The bridesmaids, depending on updos or not, will be between $125 and $150. The owner will bring along either one or two assistants depending on how many people end up wanting their services. SO now for the questions…
What do you think of these prices? I thought they seemed about average for places I was looking at in the area. It seems like they have a lot of experience with bridal hair and makeup, as well as experience with models and photo shoots and stuff. How much did you bees pay for yours?
I wanted to gift hair and makeup to my BMs, but my mom seems to think this is being too generous. On the one hand, it is a big chunk of change, but I think they will enjoy the pampering. And I would like them to have their hair and makeup done for pictures.. I don’t want to go all bridezilla and “require” it, but if I am asking that, then I feel that I should pay for it. I also plan on buying their jewelry and something else small and personal for gifts probably. So do you think this is appropriate to gift them the hair and makeup? And if so, could I ask that they cover their own tip, or should I cover the tip for everyone?
How did everyone handle hair and makeup for their bridal party? Any input would be much appreciated 🙂
