I was feeling pretty down today given my fiancé’s father’s health. But it was the day I scheduled to have my hair and makeup trial. I was not into it at first and felt guilty for pampering myself and playing dressup, but I finally let go and had a really nice time.
My HMUA is so nice and just listened to everything I said. I typically wear no makeup so this amount feels really good. She used an airbrush to apply and we will add some eyelash inserts on the day of. Anyway here are the pics from my trial.

Here’s a closeup of the makeup.
She also tried this darker lipstick on me but I’m not sure how I felt about it.

Any suggestions or feedback?

For the Bees suggesting I change the makeup, what changes would you make?

I love your hair and actually like the darker lipstick. I’m in the boat where my Fiance “won’t kiss me” if I have lipstick on, or I’d go with a darker color than what your artist used. The eyelash extensions/falsies she’s going to use will make a huge impact

It barely looks like you have any makeup on. Eyeliner? Mascara? Eyeshadow is barely noticeable if it’s even there. You need more blush. Highlighter.
I also really don’t like that headpiece you have on at all.

The hair needs more height on top.

Your hair and makeup look nothing like the inspiration photos that you posted. You are really pretty and have such beautiful features and I don’t think the makeup is doing you any justice!

I think the makeup looks a bit flat.
I prefer the lighter lipstick shade against your skin tone.

dreamreve1 : I think she took me too literally when I said I never wear makeup so I wanted a light look. I’ll be asking her to add more to make it more dramatic.
slomotion : I see what you’re saying. I think you’re right. Some extra body will help.
bridetobeannie : They were loose inspiration pics. I don’t wear makeup so I’m not sure what kind of changes to ask for. What do you suggest? More dramatic eyes and the eyelashes for sure.

You are a very pretty lady, but this makeup just doesn’t do it for me for a wedding look. It’s very very minimal makeup, and on your wedding day I don’t think it will photograph well. I would look into doing more base coverage, eyeshadow, especially liner and mascara. In your inspo picture, her eyes are really accentuated. But I don’t feel like yours have that same effect. I actually like the dark lip!
And I like the hair, but it’s too flat above the head piece. The roots need some volume!

I like the bottom part of your hair, but I think you need to add some height to the hair on top of your head, not just have it flat. Or you could sweep a bit of your hair across your forehead, as your forehad it quite high. – don’t take that the wrong way, I have a much bigger forehead than you!
I think I actually like the darker lip colour on you as it makes your eyes pop a bit more. You could go a bit more dramatic with the eye, as the top photos don’t really make your features stand out. Your inspiration makeup photo is actually quite heavy makeup and big focus on the eyes.

haileyblue : I agree with all of this. I think she took my desire for minimal makeup to seriously. I’ll have to ask for more coverage. And definitely way more mascara. I also agree about the flatness of the top of my hair.
LittleKBee : haha no offense taken. I used to joke that I have a fivehead instead of a forehead. It takes five fingers to cover. I was hoping to have a few more pieces of face framing hair. I think it would soften the look.
I think I’m going to find a different lip color too. More in between the two options shown.

Please don’t take this the wrong way but if I were in your shoes I would start getting regular eyebrow waxes between now and the wedding. Your eyebrows frame your face and I think you would notice a HUGE difference if you cleaned yours up a bit. I have bushy eyebrows myself and honestly I don’t do anything to them besides waxes every 4 weeks or so. I always ask them to leave as much as they can, and to clean them up. I’m a lot happier with my brows now that I have made this simple change.

I agree with what everyone else has said here. I think I’d personally consider a new makeup artist, as the makeup doesn’t look like it’s been professionally done at all. I think you are stunning and a good makeup artist could do great things with your face.

I agree with PP about getting eyebrows waxed! I think it will make a huge difference! And a tidge darker lipstick. I love the hair and the headpiece, beautiful!
