I had my trials this past weekend (yes, very early – it’s a semi-destination wedding though and we don’t know if we’ll be up again before the wedding). The hair looked great. We’re going to fluff out the bottom a little more but other than that, I loved it. However, the makeup didn’t “wow” me. The makeup artist used Bare Minerals on my face, which looked caked on on my dry skin. The eye liner under my eyes turned racoon-y after an hour and a half and I had to keep wiping it away. She used a shimmery shadow, which I don’t want because I don’t like how it photographs. And finally, the fake eyelashes look over the top and the fell off after an hour (you can see in the second picture how they’re falling off near the inside of my eyes).
Outside right after (the false lashes are already peeling up – she should have trimmed them):
At our venue, 2 hours later (my nose is red because it was 20 degrees):
Later that night, no falsies, just mascara:
Back of my hair at the end of the night (hairstylist said it will be more anchored down):

I have a few questions….
- What type of hair do you have? Fine? Wavy?
- When are you getting married? Summer? fall? The weather can have a major impact on your hair….. think humidity……
I love your eye makeup……
I think the lip color needs to be a little less pink…….

1. Thick, wavy hair. Holds a style really well.
2. We’re getting married in the fall.
I’m probably going to skip lip color because my fiance hates the feel of stuff on my lips.

Not fond of the make up. I think it’d be great with a dark shadow at the crease to make your eyes pop and some contouring at your cheek bones. Did you have inspiration pictures??
hair is lovely!! Just add a few more bobby pins 🙂

I like everything but the lip color. Your hair is pretty.

I think she needs to add a little more facial contouring, and a little more blush. I also definitely think she should have used more highlighting powder on your cheekbones and nose. I like the bold lip, but I’m not sure that I really love that particular color on you. I think you should do something with a little less pink in it, and more of a natural brownish undertone.

I actually really like the lip colour, the eyes could have a bit more definition with some darker shadow though and still be on the more natural looking side. Is ther person who did your makeup a professional? The falsies application was pretty bad, the inner corners weren’t stuck down even immediately after. Usually mineral makeup isn’t the best choice when having lots of flash photography either.

This was my inspiration :/
Now I’m kind of freaking out because it was so not what I wanted. But the wedding is in the middle of nowhere so there’s not many options for other make up artists. She was professional in the sense that she was the makeup artist for this salon.

This was my makeup for the e-pics. It was done by a different person. She did some contouring on my nose, and she trimmed the eyelashes and applied them correctly.

I think a little more blush and highlights below the eyebrows would improve the look. The lip color is really off for me. Something like your inspiration picture would look better. More berry and less pink. Or go for something more natural. Try a lip stain. They give color without coming right off

The eye makeup is stunning, and I think it would be great with natural lips.

@newcitylights: I think a heavy mascara’d eye looks just as nice as the falsies. They should NOT have fallen off like that.
Your makeup looked great otherwise. I really think you need to plan to wear lipstick for the photos. It defines and highlights your pout nicely. You’ll want to be able to capture your defined smile in photos and lipstick will help. Tell Fiance he can count on a clean kisser after some pics have been snapped.

@newcitylights: love the make up except for the lipstick. too pink. i like the hair too but like PP said what season are you getting married in?

@newcitylights: I think your skin looks flawless…but I’m not a fan of the way she did your makeup at all…and it definitely doesn’t look like your inspiration picture. I think you should deinitely try to find someone else. I like the hair though 🙂

The only other place around is a Sephora…should I try that?
