Hair and makeup trial were the morning of my bridal shower this past Satuday. I asked the makeup artist to keep my freckles visible and to make my blue eyes pop. I told her I was looking for natural and dewy and only heavy enough to show in pictures. She airbrushed the foundation and the blush, guaranteeing my freckles would show. Nope. Everything was heavy, especially my brows. My blush did NOT blend at all and was too low and too close to my nose. I looked very plump in the face. I had dark brown lids and penny-bronze shadow. I asked her about it, and she lightened my brows a little, but said that this was the only way that it would show up in pictures and we can change a few things next time. Hmm.
Then was my hair appointment – from the same hairstylist I have been going to for the last six-ish months. I asked her for a low bun, soft and feminine looking, with texture, like braids. What she gave me looked like my hair was pulled back into a ponytail and then wrapped around a few braided strands. I asked her to give me more volume in the crown, and she said she would “probably back-comb it a bit day-of to give it more volume”. Double hmm..
Additionally, I had to pay almost full price for these two trials, which I was disappointed over and I felt like I was just fit in-between their other appointments, even though I was scheduled and on the books for weeks!
- Both appointments had their next clients show up within the last half hour of us finishing. Neither stylist offered to re-do to make it look like it would the day of the wedding. Am I wrong in thinking that they should? Is this NOT a trial for how it should look day-of?
- Should I start shopping for new hair and makeup stylists?
