tjacob2014:  I thought you looked terrific until I saw the inspiration photos – she missed the mark and I’d suggest trying someone new.  Do you have a Sephora store nearby?  I had great luck with them.   You look fabulous and when you get the “look” you want you will be stunning!!

I would look into finding someone new, you don’t want to be worrying she won’t be able to do it right the day of. But if you decide to go with her, I would give her more corrections and let her try again.

You are very pretty, but honestly… idk, that looks like something I could do. I would probably not risk it and find someone else. The eyeliner especially is really bad and it throws the whole look off imo, like I notice that it’s uneven right away. I mean, to be fair, I have one eye that’s more hooded than the other, so I know to look for that. I can’t tell if you do too or if that’s just how your eyeliner makes it look.

I’d look into someone else – you should feel more at ease with the results than this and god knows your wedding day is not the day to find out how good she ‘really’ does! Good luck!

That’s quite a lot of things to have gone wrong. The trial should be as good as the actual day as its a trial run for you so if you aren’t happy i’d find someone else. Your beautiful so whatever you have done will look lovely but honestly i’m not impressed with the hair or makeup it looks messy. Yes she might do better on the day but she might not be able too. I’m a makeup artist and putting eyeliner on someone else is the hardest part but you have to get it right it’s pretty much the staple of bridal makeup. I judge people by their eyeliner skills and hers is lacking she also doesn’t seem to have blended the eyeshadow very well which is a pet hate of mine. Good blending is important.

I think I’d definitely find someone new. It’s not worth the stress. I was SOOO happy with my trial, that it made me feel so relaxed on the day of. You don’t want to be stressing out if you’ll like your makeup (and hair).

Former MAC MUA here… I do freelance makeup on the side and have done at least a hundred brides… my advice? Find someone new… The point of a trial is to show you what you will look like the day of and EASE YOUR MIND! You do NOT want to be a nervous wreck that day!!! And no… your lips shouldn’t wear off like that… she should have known better and primed, lined, and colored them in with the same color as the gloss.

You’re inspiration photos show a polished hairstyle, natural-length false lashes, clean winged liner and lightly filled-in brows.

She did not deliver and you deserve to look and feel your best on your wedding day!

tjacob2014:  sorry bee, I would look for someone else to do MU and hair. The eyeshadow is really flat and your pretty eyes are just overwhelmed by it, her work is just not good at all. The hair doesn’t look anything like your inspiration pics and as you said, needs have more volume in the front/top.

No good. Dump her and find someone new.

agree with PP’s.  You can’t assume that because its a trial she just put in less effort than she would for a wedding.  Even if that’s true, that’s bad business on her part.  Just as likely: she actually has no idea what she’s doing.

And honestly, I could’ve done your makeup better than that given your inspo pics.

tjacob2014:  As a MUA I wouldn’t say give her the benefit of the doubt. I would say, give her your feedback. I would say it’s not the look you were envisioning. Personally I would do another trial and if you’re still not happy I would know I tried my best to give you what you wanted before you went elsewhere! But I’m not sure how she works

Before a client goes elsewhere I would like the opportunity to get their feedback and adjust. I would neither want someone to just dump me without giving me the chance to fix it or just blindly trusting I would do better the day of and be unhappy!

I think you’re gorgeous but the make-up is nothing like your inspiration pictures. Looking for someone else seems best.
