A close friend of mine has been my hairdresser for approx. a year now and we have been prepping/growing my hair for my wedding in April. On my last visit, she made a mistake and accidently picked up her ‘proper’ scissors instead of her ‘thinning’ scissors. Long story short, I’ve lost about 4-5 inches off my hair, and it’s now about 3 inches short! With 8 weeks to go to the wedding this is a disaster! We were originally going to put extensions in (my hair grows VERY slowly) for the wedding, however I don’t think this will be achievable now. She knows I am hurt over this and she feels pretty bad, which I don’t want as she is coming to the wedding.
Any advice on how to remedy this situation? I love my friend dearly but I can’t help feeling like my inner bridezilla is ready to escape and ravage the villagers.
She has gone above and beyond in all aspects (hair, planning, friendship etc) but I am starting to feel a little trapped by it all. I love her to pieces and don’t want to lose the friendship.
I’m not even really sure if there is a question in this, I just needed to let it out. Small towns see, if I mention anything to anyone, she will lose business and her rep for such a silly little mistake that wouldn’t even bother me if I wasn’t getting married so soon!
Please Bee’s! Short hair inspiration? Super short hair to extensions recommendations? I’m going crazy over here 🙁

Why do you think extensions won’t work out? Seems to me like an easy fix to remedy the situation. I thought a lot of celebrities intentionally have short hair to be able to wear extensions? I don’t know anything about hair btw, so I suggest talking to your friend about his. She would know how to mend this situation
You said you feel trapped by her friendship. Did you start to feel like that after she accidently cut of your hair or was this already an issue before that? If that feeling came after the incident then wait before you say anything. That might be your inner bridezilla acting up.

I don’t have any suggestions about extensions. But as a short hair bride, here are a few of my own inspiration photos (picture overload ahead):

Extension work on the shortest of hair. Malaysian weave is great for short hair and very versatile, im pretty sure thats what Britney used when she cut off all her hair, but youll have to get them taken out professionally. Or you can get it glued in but PLEASE especially with the glue get someone who knows what they are doing.

I’m so sorry this happened! I’ve recently been reading up on tips for making hair grow longer, fuller, and faster. Something that keeps coming up is this shampoo: http://manentail.com/ I know it seems crazy, but I’ve seen so many good reviews, I’m going to pick it up as soon as my shampoo runs out. I’ve also heard that prenatal vitamins make both your hair/nails grow like crazy. Maybe doing both could help you gain some of your length back in time?

Stick in strips are fab if u want hair down. or clipins . if you are having it up what i do with my brides is use clip in strips and cut them into sections to incorperate it into natural hair. if u use the strip or clipins and are having your hair down i recommend only having it up to 6 inches longer than your natural length. other wise they look false looking. make sure your friend or some one shapes these or trims them to blen in nicely. and then i also recommend my brides to have wavey or curley hair to help them blend even better. hope this helps.x

Thanks so much for your help ladies, I think I just needed someone to tell me its all going to be ok!! The short hair Inspo is beautiful thank you flying_hearts!
I think I will go with extensions, (might even keep them short to get the look in that first pic!) I generally use the tape ones and they have worked on short hair before, just haven’t seen them in action with hair THIS short lol!! Might throw my clip ins in there aswell!
LadyIrene, My issues started before this little drama, she is so loving and caring and only wants to help, EXAMPLE. I mentioned months ago that I had decided to have my hair down for the big day and then only 2 weeks ago she calls me to tell me her upstyles training DVD’s had arrived ($300 odd worth mind you) and that we should start practising upstyles. I suppose it has alot to do with me not being able to tell her NO. I just dont want to hurt her feelings. MUST remember to never mix business and pleasure I guess! and possibly install a backbone! She really is a great person, and this post probably doesn’t paint her in a great light, but she is amazing, and I think that as a Destination Wedding bride, my hair was the one thing I felt like I could actually control and do something about real time. Nothing like wedding stress to send you loopy!
Thanks for the tip ImaStarr! I’ve tried this product, and while pretty damn good, unfortunately doesn’t do much for my hair. I wont go into details but think anemic, celiacs and an inhability to absorb vitatmins (makes me sound like i’m falling apart! Promise I’m not!). Doesn’t make for long lushious hair! But that’s just me, I have seen it work wonders for others!
Nikki1212 Thanks for the curls tip! didn’t even think of that! would deffs help it blend alot better!
You have helped my stress levels a tonne ladies, I owe ya one 😉

I personally would get professional, high-end extensions and ask her to split the cost with me. No DIY extensions for me!

Just be honest with her without attacking her, and have some practice sessions, but I would suggest bringing a more-than-honest friend or Bridesmaid or Best Man with me, that way THEY can make the remarks, and you don’t have to be in that iffy situation.

can you post a photo/ short hair can be brilliant! shows off eyes and features so basically its about working with what you have! I met a couple of girls on a hen do this weekend (my friends, not mine) and they both had real cropped hair and they both looked amazing! post a photo and maybe you should go for a Twiggy or elf like photo
Im really pleased you arent taking this to an end of friendship point – i would understand if you were so upset that you did, but its lovely to see that – as big as this is, and hair on wedding day IS big, that you are keeping friendship in perspective and I BET she would take that silly mistake back if she could!
How about getting a whole host of short and really short photos togther – like the ones above and sit down with you friend and ask if you could carry these off – you never know, it may have been a new style blessing in disguise!
can we have a look?

Update!! So, I sat down and had a chat to her about my options, and she was great about it all AND reallyyyy understanding, still undecided on short/long hair. I should mention I’ve had short hair (with the exception of a few sets of extentsions) for close to 10years now, have never managed to get it past my shoulders (I could sit on it when I was a kid!! ) so all in all, I really don’t need to be stressing over this too much.
Either way, I’ll take all the advice I can get!!!
Here are some photos of me with both short and long hair! Let me know what you think!
Aaaand well, there you go, turns out I don’t even have any photos of me with long hair that show my face properly (and by properly I mean not looking like i’ve had a shit day at work, no make up and double chins for alllllll!! – PLUS my hair is up in all the pics! HA) My hair is slightly shorter than the first pic, Have had it razored to the maxxxx but the overall length is still there so thats a bonus!
Also, I’ve just been informed my hairdresser has recieved a full head of extensions to put in (a peace offering and wedding present) for me – she must have ordered them straight after the mishap!! I don’t know why I was ever worried, with friends like that, my day is going to be perfect!!!
Thanks so much beautiful Bee’s!! I’m glad I came here first before doing something I’d regret!

Sounds like you have a pretty wonderful friend (I’m jealous!) and actually I really REALLY love your short hair. You look edgy and sassy and fun. Get the extensions if you really want (I am having mine out in today) but I really think your face suits the short hair.
