I am considering getting hair extensions for my wedding. My hair is past my shoulders, straight and thin. I want my hair to be longer and thicker. I thought about trying clip ins or getting the semi permanent ones but im not sure if they will be uncomfortable or if they will damage my hair. does anyone have any advice for trying hair extensions for the first time?

kmclark: I had them for my wedding and it didn’t bother me.. I did the clip-ins…My only suggestion would be wash them prior to wedding so they curl nicely.

The clip ins are awesome. I have used them a lot. I have had keratin bonded permanent ones as well. The permanent ones tend to damage your hair after repeated use. The clip ins are pretty easy to put in. Takes a bit of practice, but I got so good at it, it was faster to put them in than to do my hair without them. you have to tease the hair a little bit to give the combs something to grasp. I have the same kind of hair as you. I always buy the real remy hair from Sallys beauty supply. They help me choose the right ones to match my hair, but I have had them dyed to match also. If you get real human hair, your stylist can color match them. I have my hair in a bob right now, but plan to do clip ins for my wedding next year.

I used to wear clip in all the time. I wore them in every day use and for prom! Now my hair is long so I won’t have to use them for my wedding, YAY!! Like pp said, I had the real hair from Sallys.

I have clip ins for my wedding. I got them personally made for me from a girl at my salon. She dyed them to be my exact hair color and then cut them with my hair to give them a more natural look.

I have a set of clip ins, actually it was two sets that I use together for more thickness. I don’t find them very difficult to put in and they make my hair look awesome, thick and long. I would recommend just buying some clip ins.

I used clip in extensions from Bellami and I loved them! My Stylist dyed them to match my hair color exactly and I wore them for my shower and the wedding. They looked natural and I didn’t feel them at all!

I wanted “Lana del Rey hair” for my wedding so I got one long 5 clip extension that went from ear to ear. I didn’t feel it most of the day although at night when I took it out I felt “lighter.” I tried real and synthetic hair and ended up choosing the synthetic because I didn’t have to dye it (I purchased it in a color that was an exact match) and it already came with perfectly styled curls. If you’re going to use your extentions for a while, I’m assuming real is better, but for one day the synthetic worked great and was a tenth of the cost. P.S. It took a few practice runs before I figured out how to style my real hair for the best blend.
