Hey Bees… I need advice with my hair for my wedding day. I have naturally curly kinky hair. It’s long to the middle of my back and when it’s straight it goes down to my tailbone. I barely ever straighten it because I don’t feel like I look like myself. Anyway. Despite the curls I think my hair is a little thin so I was looking into either getting clip in or sewn extensions. I work with someone who could easily do both for me… and probably not charge a lot… Has anyone done this with naturally curly hair? Can you even get them where the hair is curly? I would like to keep them in for my honeymoon. But that would mean swimming pools and roller coasters… That’s not a good idea right?
My dress has a really beautiful back so I wanted to do a side braid but it will look so thin and awkward without more hair there

I have thick curly hair, it only comes down shoulder length and I decided to pull it up in a bun for my wedding and it was fine. why dont you consider going to see a stylist.

MeredithWacknik: I would wear clip in extensions for the wedding day, have them styled same as your hair (which I would assume would be a smooth wavy style for braiding?) Then after the wedding I don’t know why the stylist couldn’t perm them to match your natural curl for the honeymoon so long as you invest in extensions made of real hair.
I have a lot of hair, but it is very fine and it is curly. I wouldn’t do sewn in extensions personally because it would damage my hair and because I like to blow my hair out and it’s awkward to do with sewn in extensions. I do have a set of clip-ins from my wedding. I meant to take mine on the honeymoon but I forgot to pack them! I’ve worn them twice since my wedding, they’re fun once in a while. I don’t have to skills to put in myself, I have a stylist do it.

i have curly hair too. Since we were at the beach, it would not stay straight. My hair lady opted to French braid and have curls over one shoulder. i thought about getting it professionally straightened, but that would remove my options while on our honeymoon.

Your hair sounds just like mine. I wore my hair in a braided bun, with clip-in natural hair extensions (curled of course) to give it more thickness. My BFF and Maid/Matron of Honor is a cosmotologist. She sad that only natural hair will hold curl properly, not synthetic, FYI. The style was similar to this:

my hair is the same as yours but, i have never done either but considering clip ins on wedding day bc of the braid I’m doing the thicker it is i feel the prettier it will be but, my friend also has similar hair And on her wedding day and for just to have she bought real hair clips the color as her hair and she just curls them or whatever she wants to match her hair

MeredithWacknik: It sounds like we have very similar hair. My hair is curly and there is a lot of it, but it is actually pretty thin. I would be curious to know what kind of clip in hair extensions other bees have used that worked well, and where you get them?

I have very thin hair, naturally wavy hair (not even curly just yucky) I straighten my hair every day. I have used clip ins and loved them. Always go for human hair. I straighten my hair, brush and straighten clip ins, put clip ins in..brush and straighten and style hair as I want. I did lots of buns and such.
Honestly I loved my clip ins. You could do anything with them. I bought mine locally. You can get them done to match your hair I’m pretty sure.
