You look amazing but I do see what you mean about prom like. The inspo picture is way less structured than what your hair is. I would have her tease the crown of your head (not to add height that’s super important but to break up your pieces and add texture/volume without a poof) and to brush out the curls a bit. They often say they do the tight curls to make it hold throughout the night, but it very rarely loosens unless you have thin/silky hair. The front bangs need more volume as well.

I think you look lovely, but I could see why you might not be super thrilled with it.  The good news, though, is that I think just a few tiny changes would make you really enjoy it.  All your hair girl has to do is break up the curls a little with her fingers after it’s all said and done.  That will get you the somewhat softer curls you might be looking for, based on your picture.  I think your makeup is lovely as well, but I might recommend doing a less bold lip.  She did a beautiful job on your eyes, but your lip is what makes it look maybe a little “too much.”  Those would be my tiny recommended tweaks, and all you’ll have to do is ask for them on the day of.  You can even go to a MAC or Sephora and find a lipstick/gloss in the color you like best and bring it to them that day – my MUA told me I was welcome to do that, so I’m sure yours won’t mind.

MsBeer :  Ah, then by all means keep the lip!  I think I misread your post and thought you wanted it toned down.  If you can rock a red lip and love to do it, then I say more power to you.  I agree with PP too that adding a bit of volume to the top/crown of your hair as well will boost the “kapow” factor of the whole look.

IMO I kinda like the bold lip.  Your lips have a great shape so you can pull that off.  My only critique is that I cant really see much of the eye makeup.  To me I just see some liner and the lashes (which look great btw).  I understand your concern with your hair.  My hair is thin so when I curl it – I tend to make the spirals tight bc I know they’re not gonna keep their shape.  Within an hour or two they fall and I get the boucy, loose look I want.  If you are to run your fingers through too early – they may be completely flat sooner than you’d like

MsBeer :

Hair and makeup are not doing you any justice!

Hair is too flat on the top of your head. Needs some serious volume. Foundation also looks to be a little orangey, not sure if it’s the shade she picked or the lighting or maybe it oxidized? Either way make sure that’s not the case for the wedding day photos. Brows are a little too spermy shaped for my liking. Lips and eyes look great, eyes could maybe be punched up a bit more with more eyeshadow and fuller lashes. Blush and bronzer could also be a little more dramatic.

I wouldn’t worry about your hair. You’ll get it done hours early and it’ll slowly fall. You want it to fall faster then just run your fingers through it.

Makeup looks fine but subtle. Tell her you want less subtle eyes and cheeks.
