I had my hair and makeup trial yesterday! I’m not sure I’m thrilled with the results and I’d like some opinions (honest ones).
This was my hair inspiration picture:
I said she could try doing it in the side and leave a bit more hanging down, but it’s not quite right. I’m not sure what’s wrong though – definitely some more volume in the top needed and I would want the knot to be bigger.. Excuse my hasn’t-been-coloured-in-8-months hair.

I agree with you, it needs to be fuller to match the style you wanted. I’d say some clip in extensions would work for the bigger knot and I’m sure they could backcomb a bit or put in a bump piece to give you more lift at the top. You look lovely… I’m jealous of your beautiful skin!

i’m with you on the lack of volume on top. and the knot isn’t quite right, is it?
how long is your hair? maybe the girl in the inspiration photo had more hair to work with?
what are you unhappy with in regards to the makeup? i’d say more blush!

The inspiration also has more luminescence, so it pops her eyes out nicely. I think your artist got the main gist of it down, but needs more sparkle at your eyes.
Agree with PPs about lifting your hair up a bit more, or bumping it for fullness.

I didn’t really feel like she even looked at the picture properly to be honest. I told her I didn’t want SO much volume in the top, but not none. I thought it was ok until I got home and started taking pictures and now I don’t like it at all. Arghhhh.
It’s annoying because we just came to visit the place our Destination Wedding will be for a few days and I had this done but now we’re leaving. If I have to try again it won’t be the salon that is actually doing my hair for the wedding so I don’t know if there is much point.
My hair is past shoulder length and pretty thick and fluffy. I’ve never had anything to do with extensions, I hadn’t even thought about that!
Ok, so more volume at the top, a much bigger and fuller knot, more blush…any more suggestions? Thanks for your help!

I think you need to add a bump it to the top just to get that volume you were looking for but otherwise it looks beautiful!

mayhaps a tad more definition on your brows…
the makeup looks lovely, i wish i could see a close up of your eyes though. 🙂

I think your make up looks lovely 🙂 I think your hair is quite differnt from the inspiration pic. You have a series of ‘knots’ that start much further forward and no root lift at the back. The inspiration pic (which i totally agree is gorgeous) is more of a messy bun. Can you do another trial before the Destination Wedding wedding?

I’ve booked in to have another trial done this week. I’ll send a photo of the new trial and the first one back to the first salon explaining what I’d like done differently I think – assuming this one goes well!
I’ll let everyone know how it goes!

@Laura_224: Great! Looking forward to seeing the update pics!

I personally think your hair looks good but it isn’t what you showed the stylist! I don’t understand why some people don’t follow what the bride says. lol It’s irritating!
I think the makeup is pretty though, I definitely like it.

I agree with all pp. More volume and height with your hair (love the style BTW) and more definition on eyebrows and cheekbones (will make your eyes pop even more and look great in photos). Otherwise i think you look gorgeous, but like most of us, we want that wow factor so a little more is sometimes better lol.

Ok ladies following along at home, the results are in. This one was done by a girl I went to school with who owns a salon now, she is going to email me exactly what she did with photos on her doll head of the sections and everything – so amazing!
This is still not the final product by any means. My hair is still awful and uncoloured and there is no product at all in it so it is wispy and frizzy. The front has more volume as she backcombed everywhere but she said to get the texture in the front it would need to be set in hot rollers – it’s very smooth looking right now. She said you can see more detail in blonde hair as well 🙁
It also needs a cushion/padding thing under the knot to push it out and make it huge – I think that’s what some of you said before but I didn’t understand what that meant! The bump looks gigantic to me here but with the knot pushed out and appearing bigger it might not be so bad.
The last one is the end of the day when it had fallen out a bit and was messier.

@Laura_224: The bump in the second photo is too low/behind your head rather than on the crown like the photos. I am almost tempted to say the stylist has too much hair in the top portion and not enough in the bottom bun area with curls to give it that messy look like the inspiration photo.
