- Wedding: August 2010
I booked my hair stylist for the wedding, way back in December (my wedding is this August). We’ve emailed back and forth a few times and she claimed (on more than one occasion) that she wasn’t sure how she “missed” my email. One of these “missed” emails led to a major scheduling conflict. I’m from out of town, so I had planned a long weekend home to meet with all of my vendors. When I sent her the email confirming our appointment that weekend, she claimed that I had never confirmed months ago when we had discussed that date. Well.. I had confirmed. So, I sent her the email proving this and she was very accomodating and we set something up for another day while I was home. She even offered to style my hair after the trial for the engagement session later that day. Sounds great right? Not so much…
She confirmed my address later in the week, and the spelling was horribly wrong and the numbers for the street address were wrong as well. I sent her the corrections and my cell phone in case she needed help finding the place.
So, I am eagerly awaiting her arrival before the engagement session and I get a phonecall 2 minutes before she’s supposed to arrive. She’s calling to tell me she’s running late and to ask for directions. Wow. So, we hang up the phone and I wait- and wait- and wait. Nothing. Hours pass. Irealize she isn’t coming, so I frantically style my hair for the photo session.
Later that evening I get a phone call. Apparently she called 911 shortly after we spoke becuase she felt so ill. She called right when she got home from the hospital. Okay, fine. Things happen. She said that she would go out of her way to make it up to me, says she will even come to me for the trial (since I’m from out of town- not that far though, about 2 hours) because I mentioned that was my last weekend home before the wedding. She then says she will call me within the next day or so. Well, the whole week has gone by and I have heard NOTHING from her. I hope that she is okay, but at this point, I think I really need to focus on getting a reliable stylist for the wedding.
This may seem like a no-brainer here, but the main reason I didn’t give up on this lady is because one of my other vendors (who’s opinion I respect) has spoken very highly of this unreliable stylist and she claims that this is very unlike her. Hmm… any thoughts here? Am I stupid for not terminating my contract with this lady? I’m definitely running out of time here, so I think it would be wise to move on, but I just can’t seem to make a decision on this. Has anyone else had to replace a vendor due to a situation like this? Please share your thoughts!
