I take biotin.  My hair doesn’t grow.  My stylist says it is healthier tho and has grown, I personally can’t see it, but I look at it every day.  My nails grow likes weeds tho.  I have to cut them at least once a week.

My mum swears by them (for her nails at least) and bought me 2 packs for Christmas – umm, thanks? So I shall get back to you with any progress in a week or 2! lol!

@Mrsgurzakovic: I don’t know if this is just my tablets, but while they claim to promote healthier and stronger hair etc, they don’t actually say anything about it growing faster. If you’re specifically wanting hair growth, maybe look into a product that is just focused on that?

I’ve been taking biotin! My hair seems to take forever to grow and my nails have always been weak and brittle (genetics, ugh). But since I have been taking Biotin, it really has helped. My hair has grown a bit and my nails are amazingly long and strong. I reccommend it. A bottle is like 6 bucks at Walmart and lasts for a few months.

When I started taking prenatal vitamins, I was so surprised that one of the benefits is hair and nail growth. My fingernails are so nice, that people actually comment about them all of the time. My hair is growing at double the rate of normal according to my hair dresser.

i started taking the hair skin nails about 2 months ago. it says to take 3 a day but i think that’s overkill so i only take 1.  i colored my hair and noticed it had grown about 3/4 an inch in one month. it did take about six weeks to notice anything.  plus, my hair is weird and grows more “out” than “down”.  it does feel healthier though.

ETA i take the natures bounty hair skin and nails. it has biotin and other stuff in it  i wouldn’t take that plus a prenatal but i don’t see why you couldn’t take a biotin with a prenatal as it doesn’t have all the other stuff in it for overkill

how much of the daily value of vitamin A is in them? The tolerable upper limit for vitamin A (meaning do NOT excede this amount) is 3000 micrograms per day.  The GNC hair/skin/nail vitamins have about half of that. The amount your body needs per day is less than 500, and the amount in food is really not likely to be 1500 mcg.

I haven’t done any research on this, but a lot of the stuff in hair, skin, and nails isn’t really necessary and most are big horse pills.  Biotin is in the hair, skin, and nails, works just as well and is a small pill so you don’t need to worry about the quantities of the other things in it.

And no I didn’t grow hair in weird places that never grew before.  People have always asked me if I shaved my arms because I have so little hair.  I still have that little hair.  I have crazy long nails that if I don’t cut at least once a week get in my way of typing and my stylist claims that my hair is finally healthy but I don’t look like the Geico guy.  I’ve heard you start growing hair in weird places if you don’t eat enough, so you never know if biotin is the side effect or something else.

I know my hair won’t grow out the length and thickness I want it to be though no matter what I do, so I’m getting clip-on extensions.  That’s another option if you don’t want to take pills.
