Oh no!  But nine years is a long time for a flat iron!  I have always had a CHI but they are more than $60.  All my friends are hairstylists and they love the CHI.  It might be worth it to spend the extra cash to have a good flat iron!  You dont want to get a cheap one that can damage your hair.  Maybe look for the same brand you had for your old one if you are not comfortable spending a ton of money.

I second the CHI.  You can find good deals on them at stores like COSTCO, or you can look on amazon or ebay.  I swear by mine and my hairdresser gets all the credit for introducing me to it.  It works wonders, and nothing compares whenever I try my friends straightners…  Sorry to hear about your loss though 🙂

mine is called a nano croc, and i believe it’s one step up from a chi. at least the price seems to indicate it ($215!!). however, i LOVE it. i don’t regret the purchase at all…

I had a cheapo Revlon one, but it was faithtful for 5 years until it suddenly popped a circuit. I went out and bought a cheapo Vidal Sasson one that doesn’t get nearly hot enough to straighten my hair properly and does a crap job. I have heard good things about the CHI so I think that’ll be my next one…. but I haven’t given up on my crap hair straightener yet! Although I am curious if anyone knows a good one under $60 too! I have hear good things about Hot Tools which I know is a cheap(er) brand!

Check out places like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Ross. I got myself a Rusk professional straightener from TJ Maxx this past Christmas; I think it was originally $80 (?) but I only paid $30. I’ve been really pleased with it so far; so much better than my cheap Conair one and it’s really cute too! Until I can afford a CHI this one’s great.

FHI GO.   You can find it in places like Trade Secret and it’s on sale 50% off right now.  Which is pretty awesome.

I love my T3 Single Pass but it was $160..I think you should check hair salons (many have sales with 20% or so off fairly frequently)

good luck 🙂

I got my CHI (NIB) off of eBay. I highly recommend it! The one I got normally runs $120 and I got it for around $70 (which shipping charges) and the girl also threw in a bottle of the chi hair protector, which I always use. You just really have to watch the item. I just looked and some are going for $40-$80 right now. 🙂

My CHI just died yesterday – I was devastated. I picked up another one today but it was $129. Sigh. I could’ve shopped around, but this was an EMERGENCY.

Folica.com often has sales on flat irons. They have brands such as Chi, Sedu, GHD, and Solia – just to name a few. They have great customer service and the items ship really quickly.

Some of these brands are going to be out of your $60 price range, but a flat iron is an important investment. You’ll want to find a good one. Best of luck!
