I’m having a hard time choosing a hairstyle for my destination beach wedding. A lot of the hairstyles I find are too structured with tight curls and tightly pulled back or their too casual like wavy hair, all down.
I want something in the middle that compliments my style and dress. I’m also not sure if my hair should be up, down, half up, to the side…?
My hair is long, about to my mid back, not thick but not thin and dark brown.
My dress has one chiffon strap that goes over one shoulder and has some detail on the chest of chiffon flowers. I don’t want to take away from the dress or have it look too busy.
Any ideas would be fantastic! Thanks very much!

It’s hard to say without seeing your hair or your dress, but I will say I’m a big fan of long hair, and feel that far too many brides put their beautiful locks up when they should be flowing 🙂
So..my suggestion would be to keep your hair down, in a beautiful style 🙂 It won’t take away from your dress! People will still realize that you AND your dress are pretty 🙂

personally, a beach wedding is as casual as it gets lol there is no such thing as too casual (unless your guests show up in jeans or something). I had my hair all down with two half braids on both sides, wavy hair because I permed it in January.
Here are some ideas:
I picked side styles because you said your dress is one shoulder? you could do your hair to the other side without the strap 🙂
but if I really had to pick a hairstyle for you, I think this one would be beautiful.

I think side buns/ponytails look gorgeous when they are on the same side as the side strap with a few tendrils coming out.

i would have your hair up to show the design feature of your dress. even if it’s just a bit off to one side.

@mypinkshoes: I agree. The slightly to the side updo looks great!

A side pony would look wonderful!

Thanks everyone! I like the idea of a loosely curled side pony because it wont cover up my dress and will still let my hair be down, kinda 🙂

I have a one shoulder dress for my beach wedding as well. I’m gonna do a side pony to the side that isn’t the one strap side. Also, while having your hair down would look pretty, think about how windy it is on the beach. At least with a side pony you can still feel like you have your hair down, without it all blowing in your face during the ceremony. I wear my hair up in a bun usually everyday at work so wearing my hair up was NOT an option to me. I’m also wearing a hair flower in my hair as well instead of a veil(again…windy beach and veil not a good match imo).
