My skin isn’t 100% perfect, 100% of the time, just so you know 🙂
But I’ve definitely got it at least 85%/15%
I’ve been taking care of it since I was about 10 and,
I will warn you, it’s an addiction and a never ending hunt for perfection.
I’m 23 right now and I understand that there is no real 100%/100%.
Right now, here’s what I know:
Don’t wash your face with any soap that is clear or gel-like. It needs to be foamy, white, and with a pearlescent hue (LOL, but seriously)
My very favorite is
Prescriptives Fresh Foaming Cleanser
BUT! Prescriptives is being discontinued by their parent company, Estee Lauder. *Do NOT get me started on this topic… it’s a very big disaster, lol. You can still find this on Ebay… and Px claims it will be back in stock someday as they hope their company won’t go under but will just be online only. But we shall see.
Suitable replacements are:
Estee Lauder Splash Away Foaming Cleanser
Origins Checks & Balances
So I wash my face twice a day. Once in the morning, once at night. I always follow with exfoliating toner & moisturizer
In the morning, before I apply makeup, I use a stronger, rougher exfoliating toner:
Clinique Clarifying Lotion Step 2
At Night, after removing makeup, I use a gentle exfoliating toner, that also contains Salicylic Acid (for any acne that may have wanted to live there):
Clinique Clarifying Lotion in Mild
and both times, I follow with a very teeny tiny, half-a-pump, drop of:
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing GEL **The Gel is much better than the lotion**
Once your skin is perfect, it’s easier to wear healthier makeup, like bare minerals, that will make your skin even better.
If I ever do have plugged pores, I turn to these great products:
(Only one at a time, though! Using two different products together causes major irritation)
Bliss Steep Clean Cleanser
Rare Minerals Blemish Therapy
Clinique Spot Healing Gel
Also, after you wash your face, let it air dry. Don’t ever use a towel, I think they spread bacteria on pores that have just been opened and cleaned. I stopped using a towel on my face a few years ago and a lot of my problems went away.
Thanks so much for asking and letting me share what I’ve learned!
