- Wedding: March 2014
So my veil is here and I have a hair trial scheduled for tomorrow… with the added pressure of our engagement photos right after (yes, everything is on a super short timeline here, the wedding is next weekend). My dress is very retro and the veil is a russian netting bandeau which I plan on wearing down to the level of my nose, with a flower or two on the side by my ear.
I have curly hair, which I do not and won’t straighten, and my fiance likes it down- but it’s fine and curly, and he runs his fingers through it when it’s down without even thinking, so it tends to be a puffball by the end of the night if I wear it down all day.
I also have a VERY high hairline, which hey, I’m a grown woman, I’m mostly over it, but I usually wear long sideswept bangs and I’m not comfortable having my hair pulled straight back from the forehead or parted in dead center. The most-photographed day of my life is not the moment I want to start confronting my hairline anxieties.
So. I need a hairstyle that’s:
Retro-compatible (doesn’t need to be victory rolls or anything, but shouldn’t clash with my dress)
Covers at least part of my forehead
Does not require straightening (I’m fine with blowiing my bangs out or using a curling iron to touch up the curl pattern, but I will not be straightening it all, period)
Bandeau veil-compatible
Possibly partway down (I’m most flexible on this- it would make my fiance happy, but I’d rather be certain it looks nice all day than anything else).
Suggestions? Pictures? I have no idea what to tell my hairstylist, and I’m going straight to the engagement shoot after so there’s no time to fix things if it turns out horrifically. For the shoot I’ll be wearing skinny jeans, boots, and a tunic sweater.
Here is my dress and a pic of my usual hair for reference:
