Warning to all bees getting married a plane ride away–if you’re going to the airport after your hair trial, remember to take your bobby pins out!!!
Fiance and I flew from NYC to Florida this weekend for our engagement party, and I’d scheduled a hair trial for yesterday since we’ll only be back one more time before our wedding in April. I absolutely loved the way my updo came out and wanted to keep it as long as possible, so we spent the afternoon running errands with my fancy hair. At the airport I couldn’t figure out why I was repeatedly setting off the metal detector until the screener asked “Something in your pockets? Something in your hair?” Well, yeah, about thirty metal bobby pins! Long story short, my lovely hairdo earned me a…shall we say intimate pat down in a back room from some female TSA employees. Luckily they were super nice, and kept telling me how pretty my hair looked and how sorry they were that they had to bother me. I’m all for keeping us safe, but…wow!

@miss_v:hahaha that is sooo awful. At least you didn’t have to take it out lol

Did they make you take it out at the airport? Or just pat you down?
I’m picturing someone trying to hide a weapon in an updo and laughing about it 🙂

@ddw: just a pat down–they didn’t touch my hair! quite silly if you ask me.

@miss_v: I would have NEVER thought of that!!!

Friggin ridiculous. I had my butt patted down last week- guess I’d forgotten a protein bar wrapper in it and they saw in on the scanner. Come on!
But I am glad that they didn’t make you take your hair down. I would have laid down on the conveyer belt and told them to x-ray me!

oh man that would be terrible. at least you only had 30 in your hair and they didn’t make you take them out. My husband and I counted over 75 bobby pins in my updo on our wedding day. I couldn’t imagine taking that many out at the airport!
