I had my hair and make-up trial yesterday and loved the makeup but was just ok with the hair. My mum does not like the hair at all and the more I think of it, I don’t eithor. It only took 15mins top and the hairdresser forgot her hairspray and said on the day it will be way better as she will bring her stuff (we used my normal one).
These were my 2 main inspiration pics: Note the wavy hair goes all the way up
These photos were taken within an hour of getting the hair trial. They look nice, but just not really special. I told her before we started that the main thing I am concerned about is the curls dropping and falling out. The curls have stayed in at the bottom but I feel like the top is quite flat, plus at the back there are bits not curled properly and frizzy bits on the sides!
Do you think I am being unrealistic with what I want, maybe my hair won’t do the style of the inspiration pics I have? Should I stay with her because on the day she will have her normal equipment or should I just ring her and say no thanks and find another hairdresser?

The inspiration pictures don’t show curls all the way to the top, they stop a few inches from the top. And if your hair is not naturally wavy, then the curls will have problems holding up without the extra hairspray. Just tell her you want more volume (smaller curls), in a phone call and see if she can do that.
If you can, I’d so go with her, you already spent the money and it isn’t that off from the inspiration pictures.

Can you have her do the hair trial again? And it is possible that some peoples hair won’t look like the inspiration pics. You have to remember that celebrities have hair extensions a lot of the time, and you have to take into consideration the texture and fullness of your own hair. I made this mistake at my best friends wedding. I showed the hair dresser a pic and she did my hair like the pic bit they looked nothing alike since I have thin hair. I say try again with her or try another stylist.

I would either have her redo the trial or go with someone else… I have naturally curly hair so I’m not sure what your hair is usually like, etc but I have a good friend who has doesn’t have much hair and it’s stick straight and when she was recently a bridesmaid the hairdresser was able to give her a lot of volume (she said she used some sort of powder under each layer of hair) and great curls. I wouldn’t just take the hairdresser’s word for it that it’d be better on the day of. You want to look back and be happy with it! Good luck!

I too think you should call the stylist and talk to her about your options. Maybe she has some mouse or another product that will help the curls stay longer. My hair is stick straight and doesn’t hold curl very well on it’s own, but with mouse and hair spray the curls last a lot longer.

@CassidyR: I think volume is exactly what I need to get the top to not look so flat. I do have naturally wavy hair that she straightened before she curled it. Usually my waves are higher than my chin when it is just air dried after a shower so I guess I was dissappointed that with her the curls are lower than my chin.
@Willow1991: Thats good to know – I do have quite thin hair. I think it was the time it took that shocked us (10-15mins) and to be honest my sister who is not a hairdresser has curled my hair before and it has looked exactly like this!
I might call her and talk to her about it, maybe with more volume up the top, or else some hair clipped up the top will make it look more full. I do think there is no excucse for the non-curled frizzy bit on the left at the back tho.

I would definitely ask her to redo the hair trail, at her expense. It’t not your fault she forgot her pro supplies. Not to be mean, but an hour later your hair looks nothing like the pictures. Again, I would ask her nicely to redo it at her expense so that you can see whether or not that style is what you want and get a better idea of how long it will last. If at that point you are not satisfied with the results, i would find another stylist.

Yes, ask for a redo. After an hour your hair looked pretty but not professional and not bridal. She should’ve had her shit together! You’ll look beautiful with your hair styled like in the pics. 🙂

Don’t risk it. Go elsewhere.

She straightened it first? I know with my naturally curly hair if I straighten my hair first it will not hold a hurl but without straightening It will hold a curl. Maybe it was the straightening?

I think she did a horrible job, honestly. It’s nothing like what you wanted and if she straightened it before she curled it, she is trying to take up time because she doesn’t know how to achieve what you want with your hair type.
If your hair is thinner or oiler, there are just things you should do before it gets styled and that’s easy as pie. If your hair is thicker and thats what it looks like after one hour of being styled, she really just needs more practice and you need a better hairdresser.

I do not think you achieved what you wanted and I think it does not look professional to the point that I would request a refund 🙁 You are beautiful and deserve a style that lasts and is done properly!

@unixfairy: I agree 🙁 It doesn’t look special enough or bridal at all…

Gosh, it doesn’t look like you had much done at all. I would show her these photos and ask her to redo them.

I showed people at work the photos today and they were shocked with it as well.
My most favourite hairdresser in the world who stopped working to have kids, and wasn’t interested in doing perk jobs has offered to help out (after Fiance pleaded with her on the phone!) so I will not be having that hairdresser do my hair on my wedding day – thank goodess!
I signed a contract with the makeup lady and she suggested the person who did the hair but I have not signed anything with her at all so should be easy enough to let her know.
Thank goodness for hair trials!
