mrsreardon2bee: She was just the worst! lol I made the mistake of trying to save money on MYSELF instead of other parts of the wedding. I didn’t love my trial with her, but my sisters kind of made me feel like that was my fault for not being vocal enough about what I wanted (who knew you have to give someone a play-by-play on how not to screw your hair up when it’s all down) and I ended up booking her anyway because her price was the best I found in the area.

Fast forward to my wedding day, it was a complete disaster and she took me 15 minutes before I was supposed to be ready! so I lost my entire first look and barely have any photos of me and my husband, our bridal parties and even our family since we weren’t doing photos during cocktail hour. A mess.

Anyway, my point in stating all that is that you should definitely find a hair stylist you like and trust, and be vocal about what you want, but make it true to who you are! I’ve heard so many people talk about brides who “didn’t even look like themselves” and I personally didn’t want to be one of them. I agree with what you said, lol maybe the wedding day isn’t the best time to try something new. You are going to look so beautiful regardless but you’ll FEEL the part if you go with what you know.. just class it up a little since it’s your big day :)

Where is your wedding going to be??

I plan to dance (a lot) and know I will be hot and sweaty – not taking a chance of having wet, stringy hair, so updo for me!

Down is too casual and likely to get flat or stringy through out the day. Im going for up! But loosely.

Fiance prefers my hair down. I’m gonna have it down and in curls. I did it for our epics and really liked it. My friend is going to figure out a quick updo for the reception during our dancing because I’m sure I’ll get hot. I feel prettiest when my hair is down!

Here is a pic of my epic hair

I too have long hair. I wore it down and curled at my brother’s wedding, and yesterday (I had my hair trial). Neither time did it get messy. Maybe some frizz but my hair gets equally frizzy when I put it up so I’m not sure how that would change it. If anything it looks worse when my hair is up because I get a “frizz halo” going on.

In fact, here’s a picture that I took of my hair this morning–my hair was done yesterday at noon, so this was after a full day plus sleeping:

Obv there’s some frizz, but again, I slept on it lol. I think it’ll be fine the wedding day.

I might do another trial with an updo, but personally, I think long hair is too beautiful to “hide” it in an updo!

This is what I went with, and I loved it. Did it look perfect by the end of the reception? No. Did I care? Also no. (I alw feel like I have to clarify with this pic: the spikes are on a window on the wall, not on my head lol)

mrsreardon2bee: I have long curly hair and I think I look best with it down. I’m doing an updo for the wedding only because my curls get huge when it’s humid and I’m getting married in July outside.

Why not wear it down and to the side? That way you can still feel natural but it won’t obstruct the back of the dress.

i also feel best with it down but I would be hot And fussing with down hair. I did this stylewhich i loved! I know people warn against curls falling but I actually like my hair later in the day when it got more relaxed.
