Hi, I am posting a picture of my dress. I can’t decide how I want to wear my hair with it. We’re having an outdoor ceremony/reception (Key West) and both will take place in a garden setting. So, I know I want something soft and romantic looking for my hair.
Here’s the dilemma: Part of me wants to wear it all the way up because the back of the dress is incredible. I want to show it off. But, sometimes when my hair is all the way pulled back (even a casual ponytail at home), the pictures of me look a little unflattering. I don’t feel girly. The other part of me wants to wear it half up and half down because my hair always looks pretty this way. I know I will look feminine and good in pictures. But, will it be too hot to have it touching my skin all day (think, Key West in mid-May)? And will I end up distracting from the gorgeous dress?
My hair is dark brown and is about 5 inches below my shoulders. I would consider it mid-length and not necessarily long. It doesn’t quite hit my chest area, if that helps. I’ve included a couple hairstyle pics too. Not totally loving the half up half down, but its the best I could find for now.
Let me know what you think!

I think the half up you would still be able to see the details of the back of the dress. If you are having a hair trial, take the photo of the dress in with you they should be able to show you a few different ways so you can see all the detail.

Either one would be fine, Your dress is beautiful!

@tksjewelry: Actually, there isn’t a hair trial available for me. I would have to pay the same exact price as getting my hair done the day-of. In Key West, I guess its not common practice to do a before-hand practice. Really makes me nervous!!

Have you got a picture of you in the dress?

@CatyLady: Yep, here it is.

I think an updo would work better with your dress, it feels more romantic to me.

updo, absolutely! show off that back!!!
imo, half-up dos are outdated.

Updo! It would show of the detailing on the back more.

i like the softer look of the half down, but either would be great with that amazing dress!

I love the Eva Longoria style! I think it would really flatter the dress and your face 🙂 Either way I’m sure you will look gorgeous!

I think that Eva Longoria updo would look beautiful on you in that STUNNING dress. I feel the same way you do about updos, but something like that has enough movement and tendrils to make me feel pretty.

I think you just need to find the right updo. Something with a lot of romantic waves or face framing pieces, so you can still feel feminine but that dress is gorgeous and you are going to be HOT. Do any of these help?
