Try a differnet hairdresser.

The inspiration picture has layered hair.  Unless your hair is layered at the top, it’s never going to look the same.  If you don’t want that drastic of a haircut, I would probably find another inspiration picture.

I would try a different hair dresser, if you don’t like it and she did then thats a big red flag. You need to be on the same page as the hairdresser you work with.

I agree with the layering comment. If you want it to look like the inspiration picture without cutting your hair, the stylist should be doing finger waves in the top part of your hair and then smaller rollers in the bottom. At least finger waves around the hairline. A lot of stylists are not great at finger waves so I would recommend doing another trial closer to the date if you go this route.

Good luck!

im a hair dresser, she doesnt need rollers to get that effect. on the 1930s picture, the hair is done with pin curls ( winding the hair ontop its self).

To be fair to your hairdresser, finger waves can be really difficult to achieve, especially if your hair just doesn’t take to that hairstyle very well. That particular style may be beyond your hairstylist’s proficiency, or it may be that your hair just won’t hold that type of curl very well.

@ChantelleyLace: Just tell her you WANT finger waves and to brush them out and then it will give you the effect you are looking for 🙂 I just did your exact hair style in class last week!
