So i live near the beach (though wedding isn’t there) and am having a champagne colored dress. Despite my normally paler complexion, I decided to go with a soft, more golden look to complement my pink/gold wedding. Here is my inspiration pic and actual – I’m pretty satisfied with the results and am actually surprised how close she got the makeup given our skin tone differences! The hair will be more finished/secure (more volume up top, more secure on sides/back etc) but we were going onto another hair trial afterward so didn’t want to set this too much to avoid problems with the next. Anything I should reconsider or improve? I’m mainly nervous about my hair falling flat and turning plain jane in about an hour. Maybe it if rains I’ll consider the updo we tried, but overall, i found it too reminiscent of senior proms/homecomings.

Actual:

Let me know if you want to see the Lauren Conrad inspired updo though I’m definitely not going with that look unless it rains, at which points I’ll think about it.

love it!! but post the updo too! I admit lauren conrad’s low romantic updo is one of my inspirations. if i go with an updo. which i probably wont. I love you half up do!

I think it’s beautiful! 🙂
Would love to see the up-do, but that’s because I’m a sucker for trial pics.

thanks all! i’m feeling pretty confident this look is the one and now hoping for no rain (or snow in TX?) in Feb.
@MrsNerdy:was really difficult to match the lauren conrad updo. i’m not even going to post the inspiration, i’m sure you know it as well as i! loved my updo from the side and back but Hated it from the front angles…mainly b/c it looks pretty much like every day i throw my hair up in a pony tai – blah blah boringl! here’s the closest we got though it’s definitely tighter than the LC look since it has to last 9 hrs dancing and elements:

Love it! I prefer the down hair, though. The makeup looks so nice and very bridal!

@CarolinaCola:hehe, if only there were a way to have the down look in the front and updo in the back! prefer different ones from different angles. a reverse mullet?
it will be the half up/down for sure since most people won’t be spending time photographing and talking to the back of my head.

I love your LC look! The only thing I would suggest is to try a slightly more glossy lipstick or a lipgloss just to give your look a little more dimension. Beautiful otherwise!

one important lesson learned from the trial. one key to success is picking inspiration from someone that already has similar enough features/coloring to you. the chances for disappointment are probably increased greatly when you start with inspiration photos of completely different coloring, tone, features, and hair type.

@maery1: thanks for posting! thats exactly what i was wondering about the lauren conrad do. I think I am with you on wanting the half up do so that I don’t look like I do every day, but if it rains I will try something with braids in a low updo because my hair won’t hold that curl. Thanks for posting! And btw, it is still beautiful.

@SugerPlum: too funny you mention the gloss – i personally love glosses, but as a favor to the man, i specifically told the MA that my Fiance hates gloss b/c it sticks to him when we smooch. maybe a ‘sheen’ type finish is the compromise? certainly not less smooching on our wedding day 🙂 i’ll check into a sheen-like match for the lip stain.
