Hi bees! I was umming and ahhing over makeup because I know the salon I used to go to does bridal hair/makeup but their website is pretty skimpy on it with no photos etc. I know they’re good at hair, but how would the makeup come out? Was I doing the right thing? We’ve still got time but I decided to do a trial run now to decide if I wanted to book them or not…
I don’t usually wear makeup except for going out, and it’s usually very basic/simple so I knew I didn’t want anything too over the top. I LOVE the makeup but I’m not convinced about my hair??? (even though the other hairdressers there were going nuts over it (but that’s always dubious) and my bridesmaid loves it. Honest opinions please!
Firstly, inspiration. The first problem is my hair is still probably just a tad too short but she thinks by March the extra couple of months growth will have helped. I’ve grown this from having practically a pixie cut in March so my hair does grow. THe second is that it’s REALLY “slippery” so it’s hard to get styles to hold. So she’s done the curls a bit tighter in the hope that they’ll drop but not drop out completely if you get my drift!
Attempt 1 – Waaaaay too weirdly curly
Then she brushed it out a lot more. Much better!

I’m like … maybe 80-90% convinced on the hair? Which worries me a tad. I’m probably stressing more because I had my hair done at a “blow dry bar” type place before a friend’s wedding and it was windy and my hair came to pieces and ended up looking a disaster!!! WE’re going to the SOCCER tonight (guess who’s going to look overdressed?!) so it iwll be interested to see how it copes with the wind.
Thinking of doing a second trial in March with my veil and comb, and getting her to blow wave only, no tongs, and see what happens…
What do you think?

I think you look beautiful! 🙂

@goingtotherooftopoflove: love the makeup, but hard to say about the hair because as you said, the length will change and fix the fact that the curlier pieces are a tad too short right now. If it doesn’t grow enough I think you would also look darling with a more Hollywood glam wave

@goingtotherooftopoflove: at first I was like YIKES. But after the brush out it looks faaaab! Love it! Take your B vitamins and grow that hair, it’ll be perfect!

I think you’re make up looks fantastic, it’s light and dewy with great colours. Your hair will be lovely with a little more length and once you add your veil.
I’d trust the hairdresser… but worth considering still using the tongs before blowave on the day as you want your hairstyle to hold up for at least 6-8 hours.
I can’t wait to see your wedding photo’s! It’s awesome seeing Aussie brides on the bee 🙂

I really think it looks wonderful on you! If you want more Bees’ opinions, you could add a poll! 🙂

Thanks so much everyone! I’m feeling more confident already. This was my hair back last March so it’s a miracle it’s grown as much as it has! I’ve always had my hair between this & shoulder length so even though its providing some styling issues, it feels good to be “me” rather than go with extensions. And I didn’t know that about B vitamins??!!

@ClassicCorvette: thanks! And good idea, done 🙂

@Andthepupmakes3: “Hollywood glam wave”… mind sharing a pic of what you’re thinking?

I think your makeup is really pretty, and the hair will be better with a bit of extra length. It already looks much better in the brushed-out version (and the curls will drop too, making them less defined). I wouldn’t worry about your hair until closer to the wedding, when you’ll know what kind of length you have to work with.

@peonyinparis: Thanks! Yeah, I kinda wish I could have saved a trial til closer-to. But I was so nervous about booking them without knowing what I was getting myself in for I kinda jumped the gun. At least I know the makeup is a yes, so I’ll only need another hair trial. And they were so wonderful, they (hair & makeup done by two different girls) said they expect heaps of feedback as to how it holds up tonight in the wind. I trust them 100% which I guess is really what I wanted out of it more than anything else.
Funny thing is, their salon is just around the corner from where I used to live when I started dating FH. I used to go to a different hairdresser there (who has since left) and I recall discussing all the ins and outs and my hopes that FH would propose 😉 haha. It feels good going back to a place I’ve always liked. But even though they have the salon, they can still come to us, yay!

@goingtotherooftopoflove: I like it, I like it after she’d ran a brush through it, it looked then more natural.

@goingtotherooftopoflove: something like this, although looking through the pics again they are really close to what you’re going for/getting anyway!….
