I had a hairstyle with braids and a fascinator, but I wore it on the side of my head, not something at the top

I think they are equally important since you have to balance the two to achieve the right look. Since I plan on using a brooch as a comb in my hair I am planning on leaving my hairstyle on the simple side. I want the brooch to stand out.

I think that if you find a hairpiece that you really love you can go from there in finding the right hairstyle that would go with it. Things like hair flowers can allow you to have the best of both worlds since flowers are soft and delicate looking.

@woodwindwaker: If you like the hairstyle she used having a veil secured at the top of the bun would look beautiful. I would just tuck the veil behind the flower on that side so that it doesn’t cover it up. Is there a lot of detail on the veil you want to use?

What kind of veil do you want?  I had a birdcage veil that just went across the front of my face and attached kind of behind my ears on either side.  I only wore it for the ceremony.

If you wanted a longer veil, maybe consider one that attaches underneath your hairstyle in the back.
