Hi Ladies,
I’ve been looking for a wedding band to go with my e-ring, which is a round brilliant diamond, set on a thin pave platinum band. Here’s a picture for reference:

For the wedding band, I’ve fallen in love with this u-prong single prong half-eternity on Etsy. For the stones in my w-band, should I go with moissy or diamonds? They’re 10-point stones (or 3mm wide). The price difference is about $1,000, with the moissy band at $650 and the diamond band between $1,600-$2,100.

We’re paying for the wedding ourselves, so every penny saved is a good thing, but I’m wondering if I would regret the choice of moissy (since my e-ring is a diamond).
Thanks in advance!

Depends on what color your diamond is. If it’s in the D-G range I am not sure I’d want moissanite because they tend to look a bit less colorless. If you diamond is on the warmer side, I think you could get away w. moissanite.
I’d personally prefer a diamond one anyway, but to each their own.

Is that Rosado’s Box? I love their work. I would personally go moissy because I love the rainbow sparkle and it will be harder to tell with stones that small. Harder to tell meaning it will match your pave on your engagement ring pretty well.

I have Moissanite earrings (round, 5mm) and they never look grey/green but my 6.5 mm cushion ering does occaisionally in certain lights. I think smaller, round stones in an eternity band may not have the colour issues Moissanite is known for (or would be less obvious).
If the money is going to be an issue for it, I think it would be ok to have the moissy band with the diamond ering. I know MoissaniteCo has a good return policy for loose stones, but if you have a ring made and then don’t like it you may not get the full purchase price refunded if you decided you did not like the look of them together.

@cdn_bunny: I would pick the Moissy because A) I just love Moissy and B) I am a very frugal, budget-conscious person! I would rather use that extra money somewhere else. You would not be able to tell that the stones on your wband are different from your e-ring since they’d be so small. Your ring is beautiful!

@canarydiamond: I don’t think you can see color in Moissy that small.

@cdn_bunny:
1-Your e-ring is STUNNING.
2- I would go with the diamond band, so you keep your stones matched.

actually, color shouldn’t be a factor at all. moissanite only starts to show differences in color when you get into the larger carat sizes. (like larger than 5mm I think?)
I’ve had a moissy wedding band for 2 years and I never regretted it. you can’t tell the difference in color at all (my e-ring diamond is an E). they match just fine, no matter what light I view my rings in.
OP: I think the real question is: do you really desire a diamond band? if you do, then you might regret getting moissy. I never regretted my decision because I don’t actually give a hoot about diamonds.

@cdn_bunny: I voted moissy for the savings, wedding costs will add up 🙂
May I ask you the name of the Etsy vendor? I’ve been looking at this ring on BlueNile for months now. I think the diamond version has smaller stones and I would prefer the 3mm too. Thank you in advance!

@musician32992: Yes! The wedding band is indeed from RosadosBox on Etsy!

@cdn_bunny: LOVE their stuff! I wanted one of their rings but my SO has a strict NO PINK rule.

@nerdybird: Hmm, that’s a tough question. If cost were no issue (i.e. the diamond and moissy rings were the same price), then I would want a diamond band… but the $1,000 difference is very very tempting! Haha, I want to have my cake and eat it too!

Thanks for all the replies so far, ladies! Also another question – would you go with a white metal (platinum/palladium/white gold) or would you choose rose gold? I LOVE the look of the ring in the picture above (rose gold), but my e-ring is platinum…
Here is the ring in a white metal vs. rose gold:

I love rose gold but personally I would stick with a white metal to match your ering. You could always add stacked rings later in rose gold if you want to change up the look.

I would recommend diamond for sure. Mixing diamond and moissanite is like mixing anything else that’s similar but not quite the same to the eye, like navy socks and black shoes. It’s not just the color tone (which is more greenish-gray than yellower diamonds as well) but the fact that it acts differently.
