Won’t be doing Halloween this year, as I’ll be on my “mini-moon” 🙂

But the last time I dressed up, I was Minnie Mouse. Future Mother-In-Law (before she was FMIL) helped me make a dress based off a pattern I got at walmart. It was a cute dress that covered and supported me well. (And I got to pick the fabric.) I just grabbed some $3 mouse ears from the halloween store, made a tail by wrapping black yarn around soft wire and shaping it, and wore some adorable flats. Though I didn’t take the sexy route… wasn’t comfortable enough for that lol.

Try Torrid.  They have some cute sexy costumes.  This year I am not doing sexy, since I don’t want to buy a new costume.  (Wedding takes priority!)  I am wearing a 17th century French costume… fun in the bars!

I prefer when people put together their own costume using pieces they own or find in thrift stores. They have so much more personality and individualism.

Anyone can buy a costume.

Having said that, http://www.mydivascloset.com/plsiseco.html has some cute plus size costumes.

I agree in making costumes. So much better! I don’t usually dress up. This year I might be a black ballerina though, we’ll see!!

I have this issue too but for a different reason. All of the “sexy” costumes on normal people are hooker short on me because I am way too tall. It really is tragic, if one is female one must want to be skantily clad for Halloween. No issue with other people who want to dress up sexy but on me… they just look hoochie, like more than they are supposed to.

I’m having a Hallowe’en party and I’m going as “static cling.”

Basically, a black, form-fitting outfit that has sheets of Bounce, lint, socks and panties stuck all over it.

My FH and I won a costume contest last year and for the third year in a row! Last year we went as a new age Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein. I totally think that homemade costumes have better effect!! But by no means are they cheaper!

I wore a short black petticoat with a white petticoat over it, a white corset that I lined with black ribbon and a white mesh top I cut up to act as kind of a shrug. Then I wore the large hole white fishnets with white go go boots and totally Snookied my hair with 2 Bump Its and LOTSA instant freeze hairspray!!! I rocked it! LOL Will follow with pictures!

My fiance wore a tuxedo T with a BIG black suit jacket, really long black shorts and combat boots. He even died his hair black and shaved off his facial hair! (I’m not kidding, we really go all out! LOL) Then, we covered his face and neck in this crazy green eyeshadow from Hot Topic and he looked GREAT!!!

It’s totally going to be hard to beat this year because we really set the bar! Sorry for the long post, I’m just really proud! LOL

Torrid has some great plus size costumes, that is where I used to get mine.

Here is mine from 2009 (sadly it is too big now so I’ll probably get rid of it) I had always wanted to be Snow White and the costumes I found were typically too small. Got this at Torrid.

I think renaissance costumes can be sexy and not slutty. Also pirate costumes. I also like The queen of hearts from Alice in wonderland.

My favorite homemade costume was when my daughter and I went as spoiled rich spa girls. Not sexy but fun and we won $1000 in a costume contest. bonus!
