I know it’s early, but I want to hear your costume ideas! SO and I are going to host a party. This is the first time we’re celebrating halloween together and I really want to do a couples costume (to get all those mental images of him and his ex as alice and the mad hatter out of my head lol). He wants to be a chick magnet – it was going to be his 2010 costume but he was in the dumps about his recent breakup so he didn’t do it. He said I could be a chick. I’m not keen on it. What do you think? Any other ideas for a couples costume?

My Fiance and I dressed up as a fork and spoon a few years ago. We crafted panels out of cardboard and tin foil with face cutouts, and used belts and headbands to keep them attached. It was hysterical. It was the same year my sister and her husband dressed up as peanut butter and jam. It was a lot of fun!

Mr. S hates Halloween but I’m trying to get him to go with me as Ron Swanson and Leslie Knope.

Oh boy! Halloween is our favorite holiday! We have done a bunch of couples costumes.
Pirate and pirate lady,
gunslinger and saloon girl,
the Geico cavemen,
Butcher and pig,
Marionette and puppetmaster.
These are NOT kit costumes though. We go all out, down to each of us spending 3 hours in a makeup artists chair for the Geico cavemen costumes. I had friends that we have known for over 10 years avoid me at a party because they thought I was some creepy guy hitting on them.

We came up with what we’re doing last night! I wanted to do a traditional couples costume, like Harry and Ginny, but he’s working that night and coming to our party late, so I wanted to be a costume that could stand alone and then be even more awesome when he’s there.
So I’m currently making us cheerleading costumes, and across the front they’re gonna say YAY CEILING! and then I’m getting us pom poms, and we’re going as ceiling fans!

2009 – we crossed dressed and he makes the worst looking woman
2011 – we went as a 50’s couple
This year I am going as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and he is going as the Scarecrow (but for a play on words he is going as the one from Batman) 🙂
