I prefer solitaire or solitaire with side stones to a halo.
I prefer solitaire or solitaire with side stones to a halo.
Initially, I didn’t want a halo. I begged my then boyfriend to never ever buy me a halo because I thought it was pretentious (like wanting to make your stone look bigger).
Now though, I actually do really like the look of halos. It does actually look classic.
P/S: He got me a solitaire
I prefer a classic look, so I say solitaire. But it’s not a solitaire if it has sidestones! 😉
Halos are trendy and will likely go out of style like marquise styles from the 80’s.
Before I agreed with one bee before, I hadn’t had the chance to read through all of the comments ( I’m back n forth at the washer n dryer at laundromat) but its amazing how defensive some people get over halos being trendy. We are just expressing our opinions for the OP to think about… I, for one, have many older, married aunts, sisters-in-laws, etc.. And not a single one has a halo. I have only started noticing them in the stores for a few years now And I have been ring searching for years, even before I knew I was ready for marriage.
The best thing for everyone to do is go and try on ALL DIFFERENT STYLES AND JUST KEEP AN OPEN MIND so you don’t make yourself nuts.
I have a solitaire, so of course I’m biased, but I much prefer solitaires. Halos seem trendy to me. I wanted something classic.
I would’ve liked to vote for both, but voted for solitaire in the end.
If set poorly, a halo ring can look like a mess of diamonds clump together, and the centre stone is lost in the midst. But I guess the similar thing could be said for solitaire with side diamonds if the “sidekicks” are not proportionate.
Before coming on the bee, I never knew Halos were trendy. I’ve seen them for years and didn’t think anything of it. Most of my favs were Halos but I love solitaires and side stones too. Do what you want and not worry about it!
I love the halo setting and got it!!!! I look at my ring all the time!
I love my halo. Solitaires are okay. I don’t love how the side view is all prongy on a lot of them though. My stone sits very low in my halo and I love it.
I don’t like chunky halos though. I much prefer pave style, which is what I have.
Obviously go with what you chose, but I think halos are a trend that will fade and solitaires never go out of stype
Ring shopping is over for me! At least until I go back to pick out his wedding band. This is just the store’s setting. We had to custom order the ring because they could not resize this one well enough to fit me. The actual ring should be ready in 6 weeks. By then I’m sure I will be struggling to wait patently for him to propose!
Thanks everyone for adding to this thread! If anyone is interested we found this setting at Robbins Brothers in Dallas and it is made by Simon G.
