I have a solitaire emerald cut and I absolutely love it. I wanted something classic, yet unique. With that being said, there are halos that are stunning and then there are some look like the person just wants to make their stone look bigger and it isn’t flattering. I think, for solitaires, side stones, and halos it all depends on the setting, the stone, and how it looks on YOUR hand. You’ll know what you want when you put it on.

You chose a lovely ring.
I don’t like halos (esp. white halo/white metal/white center), but do very much like the delicate bandwork with melee on your set! Pretty!

My ring is a gorgeous halo. I didn’t choose it to make the diamond look bigger, or because it was ‘on trend’ (which I think is ridiculous – there’s 2 options when you buy a ring, how one of those options is seen as a trend is beyond me).
I chose my ring because it looks amazing on my finger, and it has a vintage/delicate look that I am going to rock until I die 🙂

I love my halo. I don’t think they are a fad. Think of all the people with marquis who still love their rings!

I like both, if done a certain way. For myself, I prefer a solitare with side diamonds since literally everyone I know who got engaged in the last 5 years has a halo.

As others have said halos have been around a while.
I personally like them and I dislike solitares. They’re kinda dull in my opinion.
As for a center diamond with two on either side, well I think of that as more of an anniversry ring than an engagement ring.
But its all pesronal taste.

They are all swoon-worthy, I cannot pick! And I make decisions in a nano-second and I just cannot pick when it comes to erings!! Where’s the nearest Gem AA meeting?

as for halos vs. solitares, non-halos I feel it’s a personal preference as well. I just don’t get what the big debate is about? When I see a well made halo ring I drool!! So much sparkly lights me up!!! Love them!!!
I’ve heard people say halos are for girls who want larger diamonds…I completely DISAGREE I think halos are for angels who love BLING!! lol

I’ve always liked vintage/art deco style jewelry so I have a halo. Solitaires, while classic, just don’t have enough bling for me

My fiancé chose the ring that he liked the most, and the one that he thought would suit MY personality and style. The halo is not intended to make my diamond look bigger (he could have just bought a larger diamond but I wanted something practical,) it just adds some visual interest and I appreciate the extra time and skill it took to combine pave, channel set, milgrain, and polished platinum into a cohesive design. To the comments saying that the solitaire is “timeless” while the halo is “trendy,” what if a solitaire becomes the next big thing? surely we must then call it “trendy” even though it’s also “timeless.”
Sorry if I sound defensive, but to say that my halo ring will go out of fashion/look dated is quite silly! Engagement rings are not fashion statements, they’re tokens of love… and love does not go out of style!
