As many have mentioned, halo’s seem to be much more common in the online community than IRL. I have noticed this a lot from reactions that I get from people IRL who see my ring…So far I’ve gotten “Oh what are those little diamond’s around the center?” My Fiance cousin told me she wanted something more simple and less “gawdy” than my ring (I think its because the halo adds that bling factor…..WHATEVER! ugh lol)…What are some comments all you halo owners have received?!

People always say, “oh, how interesting” or “very pretty but unique”. I am the only person that I know with a halo. It was never on my radar until I joined the bee….. your right, there are so many ladies on here, yet I haven’t met a single lady in real life with one. Although, my co-worker has a coloured gemstone engagement ring, which aren’t very popular in my area but beautiful nonetheless.
Here’s my precious. 1/2 carat total halo with multiple small diamonds, with baguettes in the split shank.

Mainly the usual ‘I love your ring’ or ‘It’s beautiful’ with a few ‘Did it come with sunglasses/ice skates?’ jokes (all in good fun). The best was my 19 year old niece who saw it and gushed ‘OMG, it’s FABULOUS, it looks like something from Pinterest!!’ hahaha. Which, considering I’m the non-stylish boring ‘old’ Aunt, was highly impressive in her mind.

@Future_Ms.Bostonceltics: wow, your ring is gorgeous!!! I almost forgot, I had one person say “that’s different” or something along those lines, it’s like- what the heck does that mean?

I see a lot of halos in real life and think they’re not out of the ordinary. The only reactions I’ve ever received to my ring have been positive. Usually something like “oh wow that’s a gorgeous ring!”
I didn’t realize that halos are considered “trendy”. I have a few halo rings and even some inherited vintage rings that have halos. I knew I wanted a halo engagement ring just as long as I’ve know I wanted to get married. I guess in mind they have always been around and are just an another, alternative option to a solitare, three stone or baguette ring.

My friend said that, while my halo ring was pretty, she would be nervous getting something so trendy that might go out of style. She on the other hand has a really high solitaire ring that I know I would always get caught on things and is not my stlye at all. To each their own I guess.

I’ve been told it’s stunning and beautiful. I’ve been asked where it came from multiple times. I’ve seen women try to break their necks to get a good look at it.

I think it’s because my center stone is large + the halo that my Fiance cousin said it seemed “gawdy”…overall the consensus it that my “rock is big”…but I don’t assume that’s a compliment by any means…I’m just like “ok..”

I’ve always gotten a lot of positive comments. Usually people say it’s so unique and pretty. There was a cashier in Burlington Coat Factory a couple of days ago, who freaked out over it and kept grabbing my hand to see it. Hers was the first halo I’ve seen on someone in real life and it was a 3 stone like mine, but hers were all white and had none in the band. The only negative comment I got was from my friend who just said “oh…that’s pretty, but it’s not my style, I just want a solitaire. That’s too big.” It was like she wanted to call it gaudy or too blingy, but she knew better. I let it go though because she’d just gotten out of a relationship that she was hoping would lead to marriage and was kinda jealous.

I have really nice/clear pictures of my ring on FSMIL’s camera, but she hasn’t sent them to me yet! Same old picture:
Mine’s small (compared to rings on here), but very sparkly. I’ve gotten tons of compliments on it, and lots of people think it’s huge. It’s got a lot of side detail, too, so people see that and love it. I’ve gotten a lot of, “OHMYGOD I LOVE IT!” and, “WOW, that’s gorgeous.” A huge compliment came from FI’s best friend’s wife. We just saw her for the first time since we got engaged, and she immediately grabbed my hand because she’d only seen pictures. She said it was “absolutely beautiful and perfect.”
I don’t know if I’ve seen many halos around here, but I don’t work with the public anymore, so I don’t really notice.

I always get “oh my gosh!! it’s so beautiful and different!” and “Oh wow! I want one like THAT!” 🙂
I don’t know anyone who has a ring like mine, I know someone with a round halo; but not a cushion like mine 🙂

Mine has been called “non-traditional”. I actually took that as a compliment as that is exactly what I was aiming for. I never knew they were so popular until WB. I have never ever seen another one IRL.

@Dell79: I’m pretty sure anything remotely negative said about your ring is envy. I have SO MUCH ring envy from you, allergicbee!

I’ve definitely had people tell me that my ring is bling bling. I had one person who was totally ogling it, saying how she’d never seen a setting like it before. My diamonds are heirloom and so the halo has bigger stones than are usually used in a halo which causes that bling factor. I had a woman in Home Depot say, “Whoa, whoa. Good for you honey!” haha

I think the only comment I’ve gotten is that the person had never seen a halo before.
