I guess it would really depend what your idea of dainty is. Personally, I would consider mine quite dainty, but not so dainty that its fragile. It’s is a .35ct round cut center stone in a square halo, and the stones on the halo and band bring it up to a 1/2ct total (I am a size 5.5).
As for descriptions, he asked me to sum up the key things about the ones I liked. I told him I like the round stone in a square halo (but not too pointy), I liked the look of stones on the band, and to absolutely not spend more than $1,000 (The ring is valuable to me because of what it stands for, not because of how much he spent).
I came across one on ebay as an example of my taste (which I loved) and it was really hard to describe to sales people to see if they had anything similar (the band kind of turns up, making it appear to have side stones, which was my favorite part about it). He got me to try on a few like it when we were out shopping one day and I just decided since I told him what I liked, that I would trust his taste and love whatever one he found.
He ultimately decided on the ebay ring, which I realise was a gamble since he didn’t get to see the quality in person beforehand, but it paid off big time. I absolutely LOVE it!!! I guess he loved it when we first came across it too, cause here it is!
