Hi, Bees! I have been stalking for months, but this is my first post. I have a 2.02 carat oval diamond (10.45 x 7.26) and we are having a custom rose gold setting made. I am really struggling with the look/size of the halo and would appreciate any and all opinions. At this point, the jeweler has given me two renderings and while I think they are both pretty, I cannot decide if either one is exactly right. The first rendering is with 1.3mm diamonds (jeweler called these 1.5 pointers) set in a straight line, and the second is with 1.1mm diamonds (jeweler called these 1/2 to 3/4 pointers) staggered to follow the curves of the scallop on the halo. I requested the rendering with the smaller halo because I was afraid the first one would look too “chunky”. I am a size 4 and am not afraid of it looking big, but don’t want it to look like a cocktail ring either. I originally wanted the halo to have a floral look to go with the overall nature-inspired look of the ring, but now I’m not so sure. Do you think there is too much metal around the diamonds? Which rendering of the two do you think would look best? Or should I go with a more traditional halo without the scallop?
If anyone has pictures of their rings around 2 carats and know the size of the halo, it would be really helpful to see what a finished piece would look like (I also just really love seeing pictures of rings…this board is seriously addictive ). Thank you for your help!!
