lillnurse :  My replacement ring also has a subtle halo.

Here is my original ring.  The center diamond was 1.83ct and it was set really low in the halo.

And my replacement (as I lost the first ring).  The center is slightly bigger at 1.93 ct but I think it looks smaller because the halo is much smaller, plus the diamond sits a bit higher than my original.  In my original, it was so low that I couldn’t get a wedding band to sit flush; with the new one I can.

lillnurse :  My center stone is 1.51 carats, and my finger size is 2.25 (tiny!).  James Allen has free returns, so you could order the setting and try it on to see if you like it!  You definitely see a good amount of the halo in this setting, though the halo is very petite and there’s some overlap between the center stone and the halo.  I’d encourage you to try the Tacori Dantela, too – it’s the only setting I tried where I’d say you could “barely see” the halo.

I would look at the Tacori rings. A lot of them have the exact style that you’re looking for!

lillnurse :  My setting is not a designer but made by the jeweler we went to and it is based on the Tacori Danitella line.  Could your jeweler make something similar, that way everything would be covered by their warranty?

lillnurse :  this is the only type halo that I like. I would’ve loved to have the round. Version of this but DH obviously didn’t see/notice that part when I sent the million pics to him of what I like. (He got me one with no halo which is find too)

lillnurse :  I was lucky in that the jeweler we used had this setting in their case.  They had 2 – one for a 2 carat center and one for a 1 carat center.  The one with the 2 carat center had a sapphire in it and they were willing to remove the sapphire and put a diamond in it.  However if we wanted them to make one from scratch, they told us it would take about a month.  I got it last month and they were busy with clients buying rings for Valentine’s Day and getting rings sized from Christmas.  They own the CADs already so all they had to do was tweet it for the measurements of the center stone if I wanted a new one.  I had already been without my ring for nearly a month so I didn’t want to wait.

Edit – the setting was $1,800.  We didn’t really shop around because we had to use a jeweler approved by the insurance company.
