purplefae :  I don’t know why people keep saying halos are trendy when they’ve been around for ages. I changed my solitaire to a halo simply because I never knew halos existed when I was asked what kind of ring I wanted.

I love my halo so much and don’t regret changing my setting! Just get what you love, who cares if it will look “dated” or not.

I feel like halos have been around for a while, but they are having a moment right now. Engagement rings are such a personal choice, so I wouldn’t worry about trends. Just get what you like!

Halos have been around for hundreds of years, so no, they’re not going out of style. Different rings are popular at different times, but that doesn’t mean they’re outdated.

I don’t think they’ll ever go out of style, but I do think they’ll mark a certain time in history when they were “the” style of ring to get.

Whatever, I love my halo! If I’m sick of it in ten years I’ll switch for a new ring!

I absolutely love my halo and don’t regret it.  The only thing I worry about the fact that my stone blends into my halo.  But I don’t reget the halo at all.

Yes, halos are trendy right now and yes, they probably will look dated in 10 years, but so what? If you like halos, get a halo. If you don’t like halos, get something else. I’m sure there are some people who will regret getting a halo when they’re no longer trendy, because some people always go for the current trend, no matter what. But if you find that your preferences tend to stay the same over the years, while trends come and go, then you probably don’t have to worry about regretting your choice.

I opted for a solitaire because I’ve always loved solitaires. Although halos are popular right now, I just don’t like that look. I’m the same with wedding dresses, which is actually making it hard for me to find a dress I like. I know exactly what kind of dress I want, but stores don’t carry that style anymore because it was popular 10 years ago. But I can’t help it, that’s what I like. I don’t care how trendy mermaid style dresses are, I just don’t like them. Never have, never will. Trends change every year, but my personal preferences stay the same. People tell me that bootcut jeans look dated because they were popular in 2007, but I continue to wear bootcut jeans because they look good on me. Skinny jeans don’t look good on me, so I don’t wear them, trendy or not.

I love my ring!  In style,  out of style, as long as you’re happy with the ring,  that’s all that matters.   I do have two other engagement rings that I interchange when I don’t feel like wearing my halo and then I have a stand in rings.   😎

You said it best about the bootcut jeans… I love bootcut jeans and will forever wear them!!! I agree with everything you said!

I chose a solitaire for that very reason – fear of a halo looking dated over time. I was never overly fond of halos anyway. Just like cluster rings were super popular in the 80’s, square cut diamonds in the 90’s, I didn’t want my ring to be associated with a certain time period. But as long as YOU love it, it’ll never be dated in your mind!

I have a few Victorian and some Edwardian halos. They’re  all over one hundred years old and I think they look timeless and classic.

Even if the style isn’t trendy by today’s standards, an engagement ring marks an era iin which you became engaged. Just like your wedding dress is nostalgiic, certain styles hold memories, and take you back to that time and place that is significant to you! Nothing wrong with that. Everything else in your life can change with the times, but your ring shouldn’t have to. A good example would be looking at old photos of great grandparents’ weddings. Most of us look at antique photos and swoon over the wedding gowns. The same is true when looking at beautiful heirloom rings. One day, your halo ring will be a beautiful antique. 🙂.
