Hi fellow Boston bees!
Has anybody had their wedding (or been a guest) at the Hampshire House, or is planning to? We’re considering it for our reception venue (and possibly ceremony as well), and I’d like to hear some first-hand reviews!

We were seriously considering Hampshire House as a wedding venue–such a beautiful, intimate setting, very Boston, and the food is amazing! (Have you been to there engagement gala thing? So so fun!) For us, one of the major drawbacks was that due to the size of the room, after eating guests would go upstairs for dessert while staff took out many of the tables and put in the dance floor, and then guests would come downstairs for the dancing portion of the night. I just didn’t want time to be so structured, and recognized that many of our guests may not be dancers. This was for about 80 people–with maybe 60 people you could have both tables and dance floor at once, not sure. Ultimately we also decided we wanted a more modern feel for our reception in combo with our historic setting for the ceremony.
But we were seriously this close to booking them–I think it’s such a great venue! In fact, we are having our rehearsal dinner there and the staff has been great so far.

This is for future brides as the ones who have posted have already come and gone. I attended an elegant wedding there! It was delightful. We had cocktails in the bar and then proceeded to the library for dinner. There is a grand piano in the room which was great for dinner music. Very classy! If you keep your guest list 50-60 it is possible to have a dance floor. It’s all about what type of event you envision; a cast of unknown thousands or an intimate evening with the closest of family and friends. It is also excellent for a rehearsal dinner! Perfect, especially if the reception is being held in the surrounding Boston neighborhood. Remember this is a house; and not a hotel, so the size of the rooms are comparable to estate size rooms. If you are looking for this type of set up and venue, it is matchless in the area. The windows overlooking the Boston Common add to the elegance of the event.
The food was spectacular and very different from your usual banquet fare. The food has eye appeal and was displayed quite nicely.
Overall, if you are looking for a different venue for a limited number of people, this is the place!
