I chose to send them out. I did hand one to my mom (since I live with her) and one to my maid of honor since I see her often. I think if your guest live in the same town as you and you see them often it’s perfectly okay to just hand them out. I thought it was more special to receive them in the mail but I think it’s absolutely okay to hand them out. Keep us posted on what you decide k.

I handed out as many Save-The-Date Cards as I could for a couple reasons. I wanted to save on stamps. I also DIYed them and wanted to see people’s reactions. I loved seeing my efforts rewarded with ooo and aws. ๐Ÿ™‚

I handed them to neighbors and my mom. If I was going to see them in the next day I would just give it to them. you have time still, but if you aren’t going to be seeing everybody in the next couple days I would mail them.

I didn’t know we had to send them out so far in advance as you say 6 months I just sent them out last week and my wedding is 4 months away. I’m still bearly sending them out as some got returned and I’m finding more people to invite…

I’m with Miss Hotwings on this one – I liked seeing the reactions of people, so I handed a choice few out and mailed out the others ๐Ÿ™‚

Guess it depends whether or not you want to follow proper etiquette.  To avoid the whole stamp issue, I set up a website and generated STD emails so everyone got access to all the info at once.

But if I was going to go through the trouble of making them, then I’d send them out – though I’d probably have done post cards, which would save on postage.

I did both – by the time of our engagement party, we had a date and venue selected. So the Save-the-dates were done and laying out at the party for guests to take. =)

We also sent them out in the mail to extended family, friends, and out-of-towners.
