hyacinthandlavender :  I️ didn’t get the whole Fred sending them to a mansion in the middle of nowhere and guards randomly getting Nick. Can’t he just say he is doing a job for the commander and to verify with him? I️ think June will ran away…It said mansion is in New England, wonder how close to Canadian border

hyacinthandlavender :  Promo for the next episode?!  I doubt it would be Nick and Eden.  As much as I really can’t stand Eden and her naivety, I wouldn’t want to see her dead.  I definitely want someone to punch her though.  A little blood from the nose would be kind of satisfying for me but I know she doesn’t really deserve it.  I would love it if Rita punched her lmao.  That would really make my day.

My speculation is that June will give birth in the house by herself, Fred will have to come up with some convoluted story to cover his ass but Serena won’t beleive him and he will find himself under fire for all of this, and Nick will escape somehow and return to June and meet his baby and they will flee to Canada.  Then, it’s going to be an awkward love triangle among Luke, June, and Nick as they all work to save Hannah.

hyacinthandlavender :  I️ am surprised Fred is that dumb to send Nick and June alone close to the border. And that he is oblivious re Nicks involvement in June’s escape and letters getting out in Canada. Nick was the only person traveling with them to Canada and somehow letters magically got out.

To me, living in the US, the scariest part this season was all the flashbacks to how all of this happened. I think the scariest thing was that this didn’t really happen all at once, but little by little and people just went along with the little things until all of a sudden it was a big thing. Women’s rights died by 1000 cuts…

hyacinthandlavender: I can’t quite tell if that scene was to recognize that she shouldn’t be able to read, and thus would understand the icons better, or to indicate that our society has moved back to pictographs.

I was also really shocked at how young Hannah still is? I was thinking it had been at least 5 years. But no, looks at most like  1-3

solnishko1186 :  I really can’t imagine running away in the middle of the woods in the middle of winter when she is so close to birthing that baby.

I was almost half expecting her to suggest sex as a natural way to go into labor. I never pictured they would have a group rape to try and move things along.

I read the book back in about 2006. I loved the book but to me it seemed more realisted than other dystopian novels like 1984 or Brave New World. The more things change in the US, the more I think there are a lot of similarities in the way we’re heading…

nelliemade :  Women in Gilead aren’t allowed to read (they can only have the Bible read to them by men), so I took it as the Canadians assuming she didn’t know how to read. I’m sure it was also a subtle dig at her since she turned on her fellow women to install the Gileadan government. I imagine that detail wouldn’t have been lost on a bunch of diplomats, some of whom were women themselves.

I just have to say it.  In 1997, the government settled a lawsuit brought by the ACLU that would become known as the Flores Settlement.  The issue was child trafficking.  People pretending to be kids’ family members were showing up and taking them with horrific consequences for the kids.

The ACLU was arguing that all teenage aliens had to be released.  The Supreme Court thought otherwise 7-2.

When Bill Clinton came along, the government came up with what is now known as the Flores Settlement.  It required that underage aliens be placed in the least restrictive environment.  And that meant they could not be kept alongside undocumented adults.

The Clinton rule was settled law until the current president signed an executive order reversing Flores. Presidents Bush and Obama both enforced it.  It’s a virtual certainty that the order will be challenged in court.

Did anyone else read the news reports on the fall of democracy. There is a study that reveals countries like the USA are falling backwards from democracy. That is what is scary!

Do I think an evil male lead cult will take over, well no but countries like the USA are definitaley heading towards becoming an autocracy.

I love this show!! I do like to binge watch it, I watched the first season in a few  days (it was winter and I was off work..) and if I miss a week it’s so much better to watch two in a row.

I will say living in the US I really think it is not realistic that America went from US government with normal US lives to Gilead (which really seems to be a small group of people in Boston in charge) overthrowing the country and everything being completely different for everyone, all in the time it took Hannah to age a couple years. But I guess these things do sadly happen but fortunately I don’t see our country headed towards dystopian gilead life. Also in that child crossing country borders thing they probably would have asked for the moms permission too (when my cousin had her baby with her ex she had to give permission for her daughter to cross state lines with dad and they shared custody) (P.S. I am not a trump supporter 😅)

sassy411 :  I am disgusted by what’s happened at our border. ICE has been drugging immigrant children for years. YEARS. WTF?! How has this been happening with both sides of aisle turning a blind eye?
