Command strips are awesome! My venue has the same policy so I feel your pain. But yes, there are alternative means to accomplish what you want. Just be careful when removing the sticky part and everything should be fine! You just pull the sticky part straight down and it should come off without any problems. 🙂

Could you have longer strings hanging from the ceiling to hold the banners on the wall?  Put the strings on the very last frame of the drop ceiling next to the wall – the banner won’t technically be ON the wall but it should hang close enough to give the illusion.

I’d be nervous about using command strips on wall paper.  And while if used EXACTLY right they don’t leave any residue or damage but if you don’t do it right they can cause quite a bit of damage.

@FreckledFox: No problem! Happy to help! But do heed Calypso0712’s advice. You do need to be very careful when removing them. You could always ask around and see if any friends or relatives you know have used them before and could help if you’re not comfortable with them. 🙂

I have used Command strips on many different walls and never once had a problem with damage when removing them.

You do have those pillars that could be used to hand something too. You would use a clamp that you get at the hardware store called a tube clamp or a pipe clamp. You place it around the pillar, tighten it up and use it as your support. You likely would want to cover the clamp with a ribbon or something similar.

You can buy clips that are made for T bar ceilings. They go over the bars in the suspended ceiling.

Personally I’ve had terrible luck with Command hooks. Could you ask the venue about using painters tape? It’s far lower tack and specifically designed NOT to remove paint or damage walls.
