I have already purchased paper lanters to hang over the dance floor at my reception location.
Is anyone else doing this, or putting paper lanterns somewhere at their wedding? How are you planning on hanging them? I’d like to make it as easy and quick as possible so that my DOC and helpers are not spending hours hanging them.
I was thinking of using fishing line on binder clips, so that the line can be looped around the pipes on my reception ceiling, and then the binder clips can be clipped to the metal insides of the lanterns.

We had paper lanterns hanging in our reception space. I didn’t DIY them so I can’t offer you any suggestions on that and they were set up by our DOC and her team.
Here’s a photo though to give you an idea (they were all white lanterns):

I think the fishing line idea sounds neat. It would look like the lanterns were suspended in air. You could always use some sort of garland or any other type of cord as well. I think your idea sounds great as is so far though!
Will the binder clips be strong enough to hold them though?

@FloretteLiz: I think the binder clips will hold. The lanterns don’t weigh very much, and as long as the crossbar is completely between the clip’s close part, I think it will work. I guess I could try this out and set some up in the spare bedroom to test it out.

@yellowshoe: Are some of your lanterns lit up? Did you buy them with lights already in them?

@candief: Yes, they are all lit up. I didn’t DIY them, so I’m honestly not sure if the light bulb and lantern are separate or not. Sorry!

We bought lanterns to hang with fishing line in our tent. We’re using these battery LEDs to save us time on the monring of. You just hang them all then use the remote to turn them all on.
