DId they call you today? Or did you inquire? Cause I got a call from them today trying to get us to book a band, but we had already booked. I would be wary of any company who doesn’t send out videos, you want to be able to get a sense of how a band performs, not just that they sound good (especially if it’s a studio recording). You need to be able to hear them live.

We booked our band through Sam Hill Entertainment- they have a great website and you can search by area and price! They had recordings of the band and then we were able to also search them on myspace and youtube to see live shows. We were able to book our band for under our budget and everything has been smooth so far.

We ended up going with the Hometown Sweethearts, they are only a 3 piece but their music is right in line with everything we listen to. They really knew how to get a crowd going so we decided to go with it! Before that we were looking at 7 and 8 piece bands, thinking we needed multiple singers and keyboards and horns. Don’t get overwhelmed, just think about exactly what kind of music you want to be played and find a band for a price you can stomach 🙂 And yea if possible see if you can see where a band you’re interested in is playing, so you can make sure you like their people skills. I don’t think that Hank Lane is scamming, I just prefer to be able to actually see the band performing, live, instead of a studio recording.

We didn’t use Hank Lane because we really wanted to see the band live first.  We had Soul Revival at our wedding and they were amazing!  I know they are having a showcase tomorrow (Wednesday) night in midtown.  I highly recommend them!  Their website is:  www.soulrevivalband.com  They sound great and are affordable (and we looked at lots of bands too.)

Best of luck!
