@jilliybean:Generally speaking, a pocket square that matches the shirt is perfectly fine.  In fact, if you have a hot coral/pink bouttenierre on them, the simplicity of white might be what you’re looking for rather than another dash of color up there.. If you match it to the tie/vest etc.,  meh… that can be too much in my opinion and start to look cliche and costumey. But champaign is pretty light, so it’s a tough call.  Google pocket square and three peice suit or tuxedo and maybe you’ll see what I mean. When you have a suit that’s a different color from your vest and a tie that’s a different color, etc., you can always anchor the PS to the color of the shirt.

This is not to say that a man’s pocket square must always draw from the color of the shirt. But you have to be one hell of a dandy to pull off the “Totally Out Of Nowhere” pocket square.
