So I’ve posted on the Waiting board a few times now. Technically, my SO and I are engaged — we set a date several months ago, have booked over half of our vendors, and he’s told me he wants to marry me and spend our lives together. However, all of this happened without an engagement ring. He insisted he wanted to pay cash for it and would need some time. So we’ve told our immediate family and a few close friends, but agreed that it wouldn’t be “official” until he had the ring and got down on one knee.
Well, I know he picked the ring up a week ago. I kept thinkng it was going to happen right away. And when it didn’t happen last weekend, I got a little pouty. SO told me he wanted to surprise me and to just let him do it his way. I agreed.
Well, yesterday afternoon, he called me at work and told me he came up with an idea to surprise me and make things fun. Since he knew he wasn’t exactly going to surprise me with a proposal, he decided to do what he referred to as a “Hannukah-like” engagement and present me with a gift each night — eventually leading up to the ring.
So last night, he took me out to dinner at the restaurant we went to on our first date. And he gave me a ring — a little pink one. Two months ago, we took my little cousin to Chuck E. Cheese and she traded in her tickets for this ring. She gave it to my SO and said, “Here, now you can ask “oneheartoneway” to marry you!” He’s been holding on to the ring and that was my first gift last night!
So now I am wondering what my gift wil be tonight and how many days this “engagemukkah” is going to last!
I know it’s a little silly, but I love that he’s trying to make it fun and special. 🙂

@oneheartoneway: hope he doesn’t make you wait until the 8th night!…or make you play the hot and cold game….fun when were kids but might make me a bit frustrated looking for a diamond!

He has promised it won’t be 8 nights because we are flying to Michigan (where I’m from originally) on Saturday and he says I’ll have the ring by then. So my guess is probably Thursday or Friday night.
I got my second gift — it is a charm for my Pandora bracelet:
I love that the rings are made of 14k gold and that there is a real diamond in the engagement ring. So cute! He made a great choice and I already added it to my bracelet. 🙂
This engagemukkah thing is kinda fun! 😉
