- Wedding: August 2012
Our ceremony started at 3 pm…
Parents proceeded to Mama’s Song by Carrie Underwood (sung by our AMAZING duo, Ruby and Chase)…
The bridal party walked down to Marry Me by Train (4 bm’s and gm’s walked in pairs followed by our junior bridesmaid (my stepdaughter), 2 flower girls and our ring bearer…
And finally my dad and I walked down to A Thousand Years by Christina Perri… Up until I got to the end of the aisle I was crying trying to pull myself together, then of course my dad starts crying, not helping at all. 🙂
The minister welcomed everyone and offered a prayer and foundation…
Brother-In-Law and SIL each did a reading, Union by Robert Fulgham and 1 Corinthians 13.
Instead of a unity candle or sand ceremony Darling Husband and I did a hands ceremony which was absolutly beautiful and had the audience in tears. I cried reading this prior to the ceremony but made it through tear-free!
“Kristy and Josh, Please face each other and take each other’s hands, so that you may see the gift that they are to you. These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow and forever. These are the hands that will work along side yours as together you build your future. These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch will comfort you like no other. These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief temporarily comes your way. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes, tears of sorrow and tears of joy….
These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children. These are the hands that will give you support and encouragement to chase down your dreams. These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through difficult times. These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.These are the hands that will lift your chin and brush your cheek as they raise your face to look into eyes that are filled with overwhelming love for you.And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.
In order to include DH’s daughter after we exchanged our vows and rings, we also made a vow to her:
Josh and Kristy, today you have promised your love to one another, but you are also pledging your love to Hope as well, committing to her that you will create a family together. Do you Kristy take Hope as your own, promising to love her and care for her, providing for her needs, both physical & spiritual.
Bride replies: I will. Do you Hope accept Kristy into your family? Do you promise to love and respect her as your step mother? Hope replies: I do.
After a minister’s blessing we were pronounced husband and wife!!! We walked out to the song Ever Ever AFter by Carrie Underwood.
Following the ceremony and receiving line we had a short wine reception and all our guests sampled wine from Tabor Home in the barn veranda. I LOVED this, it was unique to our ceremony and gave us a chance to socialize with our guests right away.
While our guests enjoyed sampling wine Ruby and Chase continued to sing/play. Fiance and I snuck away to dance along to Love You (1234) by Plain White T’s.
Then we were off in our limo bus for more pictures!
