@futuremissus: Does it even matter that we don’t have a cute proposal story ?

First, congratulations on what I hope will be a blissful, happy future !

Two, where’s the ring porn?? πŸ˜‰

Three: Your proposal story is unique to the two of you and sounds like the period needed on the bad stuff and the comma needed for the future !

For the record, our proposal story was not akin to what you see in the movies, either. Remember that the message behind the proposal (wanting to be together forever) is most important.

Besides, you two have a lifetime of romantic moments ahead of you !

Congratulations!!!!

my proposal story was not glamorous or cute either,it was after we`d been out all day,got soaked from rain ans we were at his house and he proposed!so now when pople ask,I just say that we were at home together and he asked.no one really says anything and most of the time theyre asking because its almost polite to ask,

Im glad you managed to work things out,and everything that has happened can only make you relationship stronger!!!!

xx

Congratulations on your engagement!

Since you can’t turn back time, there’s really no way to change your “proposal story” without basically just making one up.  It’s really important that you guys were able to discuss your issues and get your feelings out before you got engaged, so I think your proposal went perfect!  And if people ask how it went down, you can always skip the gory details and just say you spent the evening talking about your relationship and it ended with him grabbing the ring and proposing to you–totally sweet πŸ™‚

Also, don’t feel bad (especially “SO bad”) about the way he proposed.  You’re allowed to still feel emotional about the past!

OP, the most important thing is that you are ready to marry this man.  In the long run, that’s what counts. In time, you might realize that the proposal suited you just right.

Also, just read a great article about proposals that didn’t pan out the fairytale way we always imagined.  So many people had *interesting* proposal stories.  Read them here and chin up!: http://apracticalwedding.com/2010/12/christina-the-un-fairytale-proposal/
