Oh yay!  That is SO exciting!!!

I am happy it is almost the weekend, because this week has draggggggged!  And we have a good one planned – it is my fiance’s birthday (yay!), and my present to him was tickets to the Dave Matthews Band concert upstate (he loves DMB).  We rented a car and got a hotel room, and are making it a mini road trip 😀  The part I am the most excited about is going tubing down a river – my fiance is such a city kid and has never been!  I just cannot wait to be floating along with him!

I’m excited to almost be done with my class, I’m excited that I have started to get some photos from my photog so maybe I can start recaps in the next month or two, and I’m excited to send out a bunch of cards to my SIL because I love surprising her while my brother is in Afghanistan!

Yay for seeing friends!!!

I did a LITERAL happy dance two days ago. Context: I’m trying to finish my dissertation, and the last chapter has been a BEAR. Just really really hard to write. I’d hoped to graduate in May, but when I gave my advisor a draft of it in early April, she told me it needed significant revision/rewriting. She is an extremely tough (but good) reader.  (Not just my opinion – when people find out who my advisor is, a very typical reaction is, “Oooohhh…what’s that like?” Or “OMG she is terrifying.”)

So, I rewrote it. It took a lot of work and time. I sent it off Saturday night. Wednesday morning, my phone rang. I went to answer it, saw that it was her calling (she NEVER calls me, that’s not normal in our relationship) and promptly dropped the phone. I literally felt sick to my stomach. I couldn’t imagine why she was calling unless it was to tell me that it was so bad that there was no way I could meet my July 1 submission deadline.

So as soon as the voicemail beeped, I checked the message. “Mightywombat, I’m just calling to say that I’ve read your chapter, and I think it’s EXCELLENT. I’m very very pleased with how you’ve rewritten it.” Etc.

I was alone in the apartment, and I actually did a happy dance. As a friend of mine put it, “When [advisor] says your chapter is excellent, it means something different than when other people say that.”

@GreenEyedMoon:  Thank you so much!!  (Sorry to have written such a novel – context was key to understanding why that merited a happy dance!!)
