I was going to say the same thing to everyone.  Hopefully you all are having good days!

I’m dubbing my “Crappy Mother’s Day” πŸ™

I’m with you Mrs. DG!!!

I just posted this on facebook:

Kayla Marie,

Thank you for waking me up at 12, 1, 3, 5 and 8 on my first mother’s day, thank you for wanting to cuddle with me while you were sleeping (or not really sleeping), thank you for smiling at me first thing in the morning and thank you for giggling with me because those last three things make the first one worth it. I love you!

Love, Mom

Edit: And yes, a very very happy mother’s day to all the bees out there, I saw this quote today… “Becoming a mother means giving birth to your heart!”

@Mrs. DG: Sorry, DG! Hopefully your day got better?! My day was up and down. I dub it Semi-Happy Mother’s Day! πŸ™‚ Trying to focus on the positive though.

Ah, ladies, I hope the day turned out ok in the end.  πŸ™  You all deserve a wonderful Mother’s Day because you are all wonderful mommys!

And a funny story to lift your spirits:  On my husband’s first Father’s Day, Addie was only 2 weeks old.  He (very sweetly) got up to get her at about 6 am so I could sleep in, and seconds later I heard him calling to me in a very panicked voice.  She had such a big diaper, he had stripped her naked and was trying to wash her off in the bathroom sink, lol!  I told him that was her Father’s Day present to him, since that was really all she was capable of making at such a young age.  πŸ™‚

This Mother’s Day, though, she repeated the whole thing for me, so now I’m thinking this might just be a tradition.  :/

@Mrs. Spring:  Pretty funny πŸ™‚

So our day started with my being on call all night… So I came home and slept as much as I could (got a couple of hours).  Then Mr. DG tells me that one of the major pipes that returns the grey water in our house is clogged so we have no kitchen sink or bathtub (thank goodness the toilets still worked).  He hadn’t gotten me any present or card and asked me to take care of the baby while he fixed the clog.  He couldn’t fix it and I was exhausted.  I finally whined about no present or card, so he walked to the store and got me grocery store flowers and a Toblerone.  Happy mother’s day 😐

The day was salvaged when I realized we’d have to go out to dinner because there was no way to clean dishes πŸ™‚

But I do have to say that most new mommas I talked to yesterday were disappointed with their mother’s day… So maybe our expectations were too high?

ugh! This baby kept me tossing and turning all night Saturday night and by Sunday morning I woke up in tears.  The day did get better after my husband let me take a 2 hour nap but I still ended up spending the evening eating bland chicken to prepare for my GD test in the morning and scrubbing bathroom floors since we are going out of town on our babymoon this week.

@Mrs. DG:  πŸ™  That is a little sad.

Maybe we did set ourselves up a little.  My birthday was Saturday, so I was thinking I was going to have a weekend of me celebration.  It was nice, but it didn’t quite turn out the way I’d of liked.  Ah, well, I guess there’s always next year, right?

My mom told me that for her first mothers day she got frustrated with my dad because he didn’t do anything and when she said something to him he said ‘you’re not my mom’.

Somehow she still had 3 more kids with him (and he learned that he should celebrate her on mother’s day).

Oh and happy birthday Mrs Spring!

@Mrs. Spring: Haha!! πŸ™‚ Happy birthday!!

@Mrs. DG:  Well, you got some token treats and a dinner out…right?

@SecretName: oooh a nap, what a luxury!! Seriously.

Roller coaster Mother’s Day took another positive turn when I got a Mother’s Day card from Mother-In-Law with $ in it. Wowa! Especially nice b/c we’ve been on the outs for quite some time.  And then today, a present from my mama.
